Plumber

Department: Parks

Full-time, Hourly

Hourly Range: $42.54 - $45.54/hr

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Plumbing Supervisor, the Plumber is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, diagnosis, repair, installation, and alteration of Park plumbing systems to protect and enhance Department assets.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Plumbing systems - Install, Maintain, Diagnose and Repair plumbing systems in Parks facilities, buildings, pools and grounds
  • Plumbing system inspections and routine maintenance - Inspect plumbing systems, reporting defects, perform routine spring startups and fall winterizations of buildings, shelters, pools, splashpads and golf courses.
  • Perform Plumbing Hotlines - Perform utility locates for plumbing utilities, sewer, and water
  • Equipment maintenance - Inspect and maintain all equipment, tools and items related to the performance of job duties.
  • Administration - Utilize electronic work order system as well as other computer related programs. Inventory supplies, review blueprints, building codes and technical manuals. Assist with project management, maintain logs, and ensure safety codes and regulations are followed.
  • Special assignments and projects - Participate on special project team and other duties as assigned.
  • Operation of Tools and Equipment – Ability to safely operate vehicle, air compressor, trade related equipment, computer, phone, general office equipment, and hand and power tools.

Required Education, License/Certification and Experiences

  • Current resident of the state of Wisconsin.
  • Possession of a High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Possession of a valid Wisconsin driver’s license required at time of application and maintained during incumbency.
  • Completion of a state of Wisconsin recognized plumbing apprenticeship.
  • Three (3) years of experience as a Journeyman Plumbing experience.
  • Basic knowledge of all related computer and software applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel spreadsheets.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push and pull up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
  • Available to work regular and/or frequent on-call schedule.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of the practices, materials, and processes of the plumbing craft; ability to work in confined areas; knowledge of state and local plumbing, sanitary, safety and service codes; skill in the use and operation of tools including augers and torches; skill in the use of measuring/testing equipment and power tools; experience with lifts and scaffold’s ability to work without supervision; ability to work effectively and harmoniously with others.
