Human Resources Generalist

Full-time, Hourly

Hourly Range: $25.93 - $29.89/hr

Closing Date: 9/20/2024 or first 50 qualified candidates

 

Job Summary: Ideal candidate for this position should have a good understanding of HR best practices, excellent communication, interpersonal and organization skills, and be a strategic thinker. The position available involves providing human resources support services to the assigned client group and offering general HR support across the department. Under the direction of the Human Resources Manager, the Human Resources Generalist provides high level administrative and tactical support to the HRMs, HRBPs and DHR.  The Human Resources Generalist will demonstrate a broad knowledge of HR functions included but not limited to hiring and onboarding/orientation, organizing job-specific training, assisting with investigations, providing support with position actions and participating in short term projects within other Department of Human Resources divisions.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Answer day-to-day HR questions from employees and managers. Support HR BP/HRM with Temporary Assignments to Higher Classification (TAHC), position actions/HRIS forms, e.g. abolish/create, reclassifications, pay adjustments, tracking, metrics; and other tasks assigned by HR Manager. Provide support to HR BP/HRM with written charges for PRB/CSC.
  • Support HR BP/HRM with investigations. Coordinate, schedule and participate in investigation meetings, document interviews, gather necessary information. Assist with preparation of interview questions and investigation summary.
  • Generates HR reports; complete background checks; verify and complete I-9 documentation, assist with regulatory and compliance audits.
  • Collaborate with managers and Talent Acquisition colleagues to assist managers and answer general inquiries on the hiring process in the applicant tracking system (ATS). Attend hiring events as necessary. May also generate offer letters and tracking pre-employment requirements.
  • Under direction of ER HR Manager, provides support with open records request as needed, annual open enrollment and other tasks assigned by HR Manager. Partners with DHR leaders to coordinate onboarding and training plans for the first 12 months of employment for DHR new hires (non-people leaders) and scheduling onboarding activities for ER Team new hires.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Required Education, Licensure/Certification and Experience

  • Current residency in the State of Wisconsin required
  • Must possess High School Diploma/GED
  • 3+ years of HR focused experience

 

Preferred Experience

  • Associate Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or closely related and 1-2 years of relevant HR work experience.
  • SHRM – Senior Certified Professional or Professional in Human Resources certification
