Court Services Clerk

 

Hourly Salary Range: $19.05 - $21.47

Closing Date: July 10, 2024. Or upon receipt of the first 50 application submissions received. 

Job Summary: Under supervision, the Court Services Clerk will perform calculations of fees and fines, cash handling, case creating, document processing and customer service for the Combined Courts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Calculate and/or verify appropriate court fees, receive cash and other negotiable instruments in payment of court fees; enter appropriate codes in electronic payment system, and prepare and issue receipts for those transactions.
  • Maintain and prepare bank deposits and balance daily receipts. 
  • Open mail and examine fiscal documents and documents submitted with payments, enter documents into electronic court record system; review and process electronically filed cases; open new case files and designates court officials.
  • Answer telephone and in-person inquiries in compliance with Supreme Court Rule 70.41.
  • File, photocopy, and distribute documents and order forms and/or supplies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education & Years of Experience Required: High School Diploma or G.E.D equivalent with one (1) or more years of cash handling and customer service experience.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Exchange of basic information with internal and/or external contacts.
  • Maintain sensitive or confidential information.
  • Explain and gather information, answer queries, or provide assistance to internal and/or external contacts.
  • Read, write and comprehend simple instructions, reports, short correspondence and memos.
  • Speak effectively before both internal and/or external groups.
  • Makes decisions of responsibility involving evaluation of information; decisions may require development or application of alternatives or precedents.
  • Execute decisions within limits of standard policy and procedures.
  • Knowledge of all related computer and software applications, such as word processing and spreadsheets.
  • The ability to lift/carry and push/pull up to 25lbs as needed.
