Facilities Maintenance Coordinator
SUMMARY:
The Facilities Maintenance Coordinator performs a variety of tasks to maintain the grounds, facilities, and equipment in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with established policies and procedures and as directed to assure that a successful and viable maintenance program is maintained at all times.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The requirements listed below are representative of the essential duties required of the Facilities Maintenance Coordinator position.
- Responsible for facility repairs and custodian duties as needed.
- Follows maintenance schedule/instructions from supervisor and as outlined in the established maintenance policies and procedures.
- Carries out routine maintenance on grounds, parking areas, etc., by cutting trimming, policing, sweeping etc., as necessary/or as directed.
- Performs routine maintenance and repairs on the facility and equipment to include plumbing, plastering, electrical carpentry, mechanical, etc.
- Follows all established safety procedures and precautions when performing maintenance service.
- Maintains general plant and facility in good repair, ensuring a safe, clean, and orderly environment.
- Cleans windows and screens as needed.
- Replaces burned out light bulbs, to include exit lights, overhead lights, fluorescent lights, office lights, etc., and performs housekeeping duties in extremely high places.
- Reports all incidents/accidents to supervisor immediately, regardless of seriousness.
- When required, call for service of heating and cooling units/systems, as specified by manufacturer and in compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Performs all unscheduled maintenance tasks as directed.
- Reports equipment malfunctions or breakdowns to supervisor as soon as possible.
- Informs supervisor of all unsafe/hazardous conditions, defective equipment, etc., immediately.
- Ensures that maintenance schedules are followed as outlined for respective shift/area.
- Performs internal monthly, quarterly & annual Inspections.
- Keeps accurate inspection logs on all internal inspections.
- Schedule external inspections, monthly/quarterly/annually and log results.
- Ensures that the facility and its equipment are properly maintained for client/employee comfort and convenience and that work/assignment areas are clean and equipment, tools, supplies, etc., are safely stored before leaving such areas on breaks, end of workday, etc.
- Keeps work areas free of hazardous conditions, i.e., grease/oil spills, excess supplies, equipment, etc., to assure that all established safety rules/regulations are followed at all times.
- Work closely with company vendors and schedule service calls as needed.
- Replenishes maintenance supplies in work areas, as necessary.
- Set up and breakdown company events as needed.
- Attends and participates in in-service educational classes and on-the-job training programs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY
- Employee works under general supervision.
- Employee makes decisions within clearly prescribed areas referring matters that fall outside that area to others.
- Employee recommends actions and alternatives to supervisor and others.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Does not have any supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- High School diploma or supplemented by a formal specialized training program or verifiable work experience equivalent to advanced journey level craftsman in one or more of the following building trades: mechanical, electrical, carpentry, cabinetmaking, boiler making, or steam fitting required.
- A minimum of two (2) years facility maintenance experience required with continuing education expected to remain current in trades and code requirements.
- Must possess a valid MA Driver’s License.
- Position requires considerable time driving to and from the Boston, Central & Western Massachusetts, Cape Cod, and North Shore facilities.
- Required to be ON-CALL for emergency conditions/situations.
- Position requires basic data input into company software systems such as email or customer service database.
- Requires satisfactory results of all required background checks according to Goodwill policy requirements.

Physical Demands/Efforts
- Work performed requires periods of sitting, walking, and standing.
- May require stooping, kneeling, crouching, squatting, twisting, climbing, crawling, and reaching.
- Must be able to push, pull and move heavy equipment and supplies throughout the day.
- Must be able to lift or move up to sixty (60) pounds at times.
Mental & Visual Demands
- Moderate concentration to effectively execute moderately complex tasks.
- Work occasionally requires some degree of visual effort for periods of time.
Work Environment and Hazards
- Considerable exposure to cold, heat, noise, outdoors, vibration, confining workspace, chemicals, mechanical hazards, and electrical hazards.
- May be exposed to unsanitary conditions.
- Some exposure to hazards that might cause minor injury.
