Motion Picture Industry Pension & Health Plans (MPI) has an opening for a Benefits Representative who has strong analytical skills with exceptional customer service, has experience in pension and health plan benefits, and can explain complex plan policies and benefits and relay them in easy-to-understand terms.

The Department

The Participant Services Center has offices in both Studio City and New York and is a high volume inbound and outbound Call Center and Visitor’s Center responsible for responding to our Participants and provider questions regarding a variety of subjects including benefits eligibility, claims, pension, and premiums payments.

 

Responsibilities

  • Handle a high-volume participant phone calls regarding benefits eligibility, claims, pension, and premiums payments.
  • Review and process participant records, including legal documentation, account numbers, addresses, beneficiary designation, plan selections, Coordination of Benefits records, Life Insurance, COBRA, etc.
  • Meet with participants and retirees to answer questions on eligibility, pension, and health benefits inquiries, and assist participant in the completion of retirement documents.
  • Other duties, projects, etc., as assigned 

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of benefit plan experience and customer service phone experience in a high call volume environment
  • Taft Hartley experience preferred, with knowledge in pension and health plans benefits
  • Clear and effective oral and written communication skills; ability to explain and confirm understanding of complex issues 
  • Pleasant and professional telephone etiquette
  • Excellent attendance and punctuality
  • Able to handle fast-paced work and meet deadlines
  • Able to handle a high volume of calls and meet required production and quality standards
  • Motivated self-starter, well organized in managing time and materials.
  • Strong attention to detail, a high level of accuracy required
  • Able to learn quickly and follow through to completion
  • Good interpersonal skills: ability to interact effectively and cooperatively with participants and individuals at all levels of the organization
  • A flexible team player with a positive, cooperative, and helpful attitude
  • Ability to adhere to organizational values
  • Ability to accept direction and developmental guidance from supervisor
  • Maintains confidential information
  • Accurate typing skills of 45 wpm
  • 10-key skills by touch, preferred
  • Proficient PC skills, including Windows; MS Word and MS Excel
  • Able to lift and move up to 30 lbs. 
  • Available to work overtime/extended hours, including weekends, as needed

 

This position is anticipated to work 35 hours per week. The anticipated base salary for this position is $26-$28 per hour. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held.
