Heavy Duty Truck Technician III

Summary
Repairs and maintains City heavy-duty vehicles and equipment with minimal supervision.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Performs preventative maintenance services in conformance to manufacturer specifications
• Diagnoses and repairs heavy-duty vehicle and equipment systems
• Orders parts as needed
• Responds to road calls
• Conducts road and static test to verify repairs
• Delivers vehicles to and from outside vendors for repairs and services
• Maintains a clean and orderly shop
• Follows City policies, procedures, and safety guidelines
• Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Six (6) years combination of education and experience as a Diesel Engine Technician

Certifications, Licenses And Registrations 

Internal Candidates:

• Class B CDL driver’s license
• EPA Section 609 Certification
• ASE T4, T5, T6, T7 & T8 Certifications

External Candidates:

• Class B CDL driver’s license within 12 months
• EPA Section 609 Certification within 6 months
• ASE T4, T5, T6, T7 & T8 Certifications within 12 months
