Space Center Houston is a space exploration learning destination dedicated to revealing how science and humanity power space exploration through meaningful, moving experiences about people and the courage, innovation, and teamwork they use to expand the boundaries of what's possible. We inspire guests of all ages to connect with the significance of space exploration as incredible feats of human spaceflight continue to bring joy and wonder to the world. Owned and operated by the nonprofit Manned Space Flight Education Foundation, we are the Official Visitor Center of NASA Johnson Space Center and a Smithsonian affiliate.

Education Instructors provide inspiring education experiences and exceptional guest service to students of all ages visiting Space Center Houston. Instructors will help to support programs for the summer. 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Professionally represent Space Center Houston by supervising, teaching and guiding student groups during educational activities.
  • Set up, conduct, and facilitate education activities for students to fulfill program requirements.
  • Lead programs and interact with students to promote teamwork and problem-solving skills.
  • Lead education program trainings as needed.
  • Set a positive example for students by demonstrating cleanliness, punctuality and respect for others.
  • Understand and follow safety guidelines of Space Center Houston with respect to student safety and supervision.
  • Participate as an active member of the Education team assuming other duties and responsibilities deemed necessary to assure the efficient operation of the Education Department.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications:

  • At least 30 credit hours at an institution of higher learning. Degree and/or coursework in Education, Science, Child Development is preferred. 
  • Previous teaching experience and/or related work experience strongly preferred.
  • Must have a flexible schedule (hours vary per program).
  • Must enjoy working with children.
  • Should have an interest in science, space and STEM related fields.
  • Ability to problem solve and adapt to many different situations.
  • Must be independent, punctual, reliable and maintain a professional appearance.
  • A creative team player with a willingness to work hard, a positive attitude and a commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work productively/cooperatively in a team environment.

Pay Range: $15.75 - $18.50 (depending on education and experience).
