New Jersey Natural Gas (NJNG), a subsidiary of New Jersey Resources is seeking a GIS Analyst I to support Energy Delivery and other business units through GIS Analysis and developing mapping applications for desktop, mobile and web platforms. Update geospatial data and support GIS database administration ensuring the accurate mapping of the Company's physical gas system assets.

 

Major Responsibilities:

 

  • Apply innovation in developing GIS web applications with Arc FM, MS Silverlight-remove, JavaScript, Python and ArcGIS Server to meet Company business needs.
  • Organize, create, manipulate, enter and retrieve GIS data for reporting, analysis, mapping and presentation purposes.
  • Update and maintain the company's natural gas facilities maps and details records in GIS.
  • Review for quality, accuracy and resolve conflicts in posting the work of the drafting area.
  • Resolve technical support issues and train employees in the use of mobile, web and desktop GIS applications.
  • Research and implement GIS improvements based on user feedback.
  • Support the building of Synergi flow models with Model Builder and maintain the model accuracy with up-to-date GIS system changes.
  • Conduct mapping research in the field and the office to resolve conflicting information and GPS validation.
  • Design and perform quality check and quality assurance tasks in GIS to ensure accuracy and connectivity of the Gas System data.
  • Integrate data from a variety of sources including AutoCAD files, geo-referencing scanned maps, and publicly available information from Government agencies.
  • Perform GIS database maintenance, create queries and support links between various databases including SQL, File Geodatabases, Access, Excel and company applications.
  • Demonstrate continuous effort to improve the efficiency and quality of GIS operations to streamline workflows.
  • Keep informed on the latest GIS technology trends and share knowledge of best practices.
  • Cultivate good relationships and provide quality customer service to users of the company GIS.
  • Any other duties and responsibilities determined appropriate by departmental management.

 

Position Specifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or an associate’s degree in geography, computer science or related field and 6+ years of experience
  • Previous GIS experience, preferably at a gas, electric, or water utility
  • Proficiency in ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Server, Arcs DE/SQL, GIS web mapping applications
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Arc FM
  • Ability and skill in customizing Mobile GIS and GPS applications
  • Ability to administer Arcs DE and relational databases such as SQL
  • Ability to program with Python and JavaScript
  • Ability to work well independently and establish effective working relationships with others
  • Excellent organization and communication skills
