Hostler / Dock Worker / Part-time

Responsibilities:

• Safely load and unload trailers using forklifts, pallet jacks, or hand trucks within specified timelines.
• Note and record exceptions in the count or condition of shipments to minimize cargo claims.
• Manage paperwork, ensuring the accuracy and completion of delivery receipts, bills of lading, trailer manifests, counting freight, and the accuracy of hazardous material shipments, as well as adhering to special loading and handling instructions.
• Regroup shipments as needed.
• Meet the company's reliability standard for employees.
• Work various shifts during the week to accommodate business needs.
• Spot trailers to specified doors or lot locations, ensuring precise positioning.
• Conduct pre/post trip inspections to ensure the proper functioning of equipment.
• Assist drivers in hooking and breaking sets within the yard.
• Work in a safe and efficient manner, strictly adhering to company safety policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements: 

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Basic English language proficiency (reading, writing and verbal) is required.
• Simple arithmetic, weight and/or measuring is required.
• A High School Diploma or GED/Equivalent is strongly preferred.
• Previous warehouse or like experience strongly preferred.
• Forklift experience is strongly preferred.
• Experience in an LTL operation preferred.
