About The Position:

Oak Hill is seeking a Clinician to assist the educational team in supporting students with disabilities access their education.  The incumbent coordinates and implements clinical services to help students with educational self-direction, independence, and improve students’ quality of life. The incumbent also assesses students’ needs, sets treatment goals, and collaborates with families and other professional service providers to promote increased levels of behavior conducive to an academic and learning environment aligned with Oak Hill’s mission to promote independence and quality of life for students with disabilities.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master of Social Work or related field.  Licensed Clinical Social Worker or BCBA preferred.
  • Counseling background coupled with three or more years of combined training and experience providing and/or coordinating special services to individuals with disabilities.
  • Supervisory experience preferred with program development a plus.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Determines the clinical needs of students through assessment including  interviewing, observing and data collection and review of psychological, emotional, and social information; makes on-site visits where appropriate.  Provides consult, integrated and/or direct individual and/or group counseling and educational programming to students to support their educational growth and progress.
  • Sustains relationship between students/ parents/families/guardians, and addresses any issues, concerns and feelings related to the overall welfare of the student, to ensure that social issues affecting relationships are addressed, acts as liaison between family and support services, consultants and community agencies.
  • Documents clinical services for assigned caseloads, develops annual social service summaries and program recommendations, completes admissions, transfers, discharge summaries, and provides documentation, as needed.
  • Participates in meetings, such as IDT, PPT, Trans-disciplinary and staff meetings with consultants and agency representatives, parents/guardians, day and residential providers, and follows up on all recommendations pertaining to social services intervention, facilitates the interchange of information regarding students and ensure appropriate intervention.
  • Maintains current knowledge of professional research trends, legislation – Federal, Department of Education and local requirements, policies and procedures related to the provision of social work services for individuals with disabilities, attends educational workshops, reviews professional publications, establishes personal networks, and participates in professional societies. 
  • Provides training on clinical support to meet the needs of students; prevention and reporting procedures for allegations of abuse and neglect, to ensure the protection of student rights.
