Job Summary:
The Lunch Moderator plays a crucial role in maintaining a safe and organized environment in the high school cafeteria during lunch hours. This position involves supervising students, ensuring a positive and respectful atmosphere, and enforcing cafeteria rules and guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise Students: Monitor students' behavior and ensure they adhere to school and cafeteria rules. Promote a respectful and inclusive environment where all students can enjoy their meals.
- Maintain Order: Address disruptive behavior promptly and professionally. Resolve conflicts among students when necessary and report serious incidents to the school administration.
- Enforce Rules: Ensure that students dispose of trash properly, maintain cleanliness in the cafeteria, and follow established mealtime procedures.
- Assist with Seating: Ensure students are seated during lunch hours to ensure efficient use of cafeteria space.
- Promote Safety: Be alert to any potential safety hazards and take immediate action to prevent accidents. Report any safety concerns or incidents to the appropriate school personnel.
- Assist with Food Service: Collaborate with cafeteria staff to facilitate the smooth serving of meals ensuring that all students receive their meals in an orderly manner.
- Provide Guidance: Be available to students who may need assistance or have questions during lunchtime. Offer support and guidance as necessary.
- Emergency Procedures: Be familiar with the school's emergency procedures and assist in evacuations or lockdowns if required.
- Record Keeping: Maintain records of any significant incidents or rule violations and report them to the Cafeteria Supervisor.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience working with high school students is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Patience, adaptability, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Knowledge of school and cafeteria rules and regulations.
- Basic first-aid and safety training is preferred.
Working Conditions:
- Part-time position during school lunch hours: 9:15 AM to 1:30 PM
- The Lunch Moderator may need to stand or walk for extended periods and work in a noisy cafeteria environment.
- Ability to adapt to varying student populations and cafeteria dynamics.
- Reports To: Dean of Students
