Overview  

 The Electrician Journeyman installs, maintains, tests, troubleshoots, and repairs electrical equipment, machinery, and associated electrical and electronic controls. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Understands internal customer needs and takes action to meet expectations.
  • Conducts all work in a safe, efficient manner, correcting and reporting safety issues.
  • Must be able to demonstrate competence in basic computer skills.
  • Knows the daily schedule and performance targets and takes action to meet expectations.
  • Maintains the highest level of Electrical and Instrumentation skills.
  • Assures standards are being met.
  • Troubleshoots and diagnoses plant maintenance problems.
  • Installs PLC systems and networking. Also maintains and installs analog and digital equipment and assists in the design of HMI systems.
  • Responsible for accomplishing equipment inspections as necessary.
  • Assures areas are clean and free of clutter and that all safety rules, regulations and precautions are being followed.
  • Performs any of the duties Maintenance as needed and other task as assigned.
  • Must act in accordance with WE CARE and participates in improvement activities.
  • Other actions as needed to satisfy company goals, processes and procedures and to uphold values inherent to Oil-Dri.
  • Acquires further training and proficiency in other job functions on the processing team.
  • Available for on-call duty and other duties as assigned.

  

Qualifications

 

Education: 

  • Associate of Applied Science degree in Electrical Technology, preferred.
  • 2-3 years’ experience.  
  • Must meet written and hands on assessment requirements.

 

Skills & Abilities:

  • Must be fully proficient to diagnose and make repairs to electrical motor controls, install PLC systems and networking, maintains, and installs analog and digital equipment and assists in the design of HMI systems.
  • Must be able to read electrical schematic.
  • Must be knowledgeable of the appropriate electrical code and of pertinent city or state inspection and safety requirements.
  • Must be able to function in the required role while wearing appropriate PPE including, but not limited to: Safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hat, dust mask, protective coveralls, and other as may be required by a hot/cold, dusty, loud industrial environment.
  • Must be able to stand for the duration of the shift.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds frequently.
  • Bending, reaching, twisting, stooping, walking, and climbing stairways and ladders frequently.
  • Must be able to work at heights of 100 feet or greater.
