AVNA – Apprentice Toolmaker

Position:

As an Apprentice Toolmaker, who will report directly to the Toolroom Manager, you will be responsible for learning several facets of tooling, fixturing, and die fabrication including developing skills within the program to be a Journeyman Toolmaker once the 8000-hour training has been completed successfully.

Key Goals:

Become a trusted and respected toolmaker throughout the program while learning the many aspects of toolmaking. Achieve the system development performance goals on the AVNA Report Card (Growth, efficiency, cost savings and continuous improvement).

Responsibilities:

• Lead by example and live the AVNA Vision, Mission, Values and Strategy
• Show a positive attitude and be a strong team player while developing.
• Good attendance and on time to work.
• Eager to learn, open to feedback.
• Be able to lift moderate loads regularly (under 40 lbs).
• Develop key skills (Blueprint reading/GD&T/Troubleshooting).
• Drive for results and satisfaction of both internal and external customers.

• Fabricate tooling to the highest standard and best practices.

• Look for opportunities for better tool building efficiency.
• Organize, prioritize, and plan accomplishment of multiple tasks.
• Submit ideas for improvement and safety suggestions regularly.

• Some Mechanical background.
• Follows and promotes principles of “right things right”.  Focused on Safety.
• Self-motivated.
• Critical thinker and problem solver.
• Good communication skills (oral and written)
• Focus on quality workmanship and dimensional accuracy of assigned work.
• Flexibility of work schedule as overtime and Saturday work may be required.

Key Skills

• Become proficient on all tooling including the toolroom/production machines.
• Understanding and work with common measuring tools.
• Basic computer skills.
• Solid documentation skills.
