Looking for Registered Nurses for 3:00p-11:00p shifts!
This position comes with a $1,000 Sign On Bonus! 

Job Summary: 

The Registered Nurse will be working with adolescents, typically 12 – 18 years old that may have mental health concerns, developmental or intellectual disabilities and some that are diagnosed on the Autism spectrum. The Registered Nurse is an integral part of the treatment team who provides health care services for individuals in their care, ensuring that all overall health and safety needs are met.  This position is responsible for the care and treatment of individuals with Autism, Intellectual Disability and/or mental illness.  

Essential Job Duties: 

  • Conduct medical assessment of individuals. 
  • Decide interventions following the nursing process. 
  • Provide education on medical issues and concerns to individuals, their families and employees as indicated on their plan of care and diagnosis. 
  • Follows medical protocols, within nursing scope of practice, established by psychiatrist and general care physicians. 
  • Monitor the medical states of the individuals in their care and adjust as appropriate.
  • Monitor and document all instances of physical intervention and resulting youth response.
  • Manage medications (including atypical psychotropic) and monitor response to medication.
  • Perform any other duties listed on the daily/weekly/monthly/semi-annually/annual site-specific responsibility checklist.
  • Assist with nursing duties in the OCFS houses as needed
  • Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Education:  

Minimum Degree Required: AAS /BSN Degree from an accredited Nursing school 

Experience: 

Minimum Experience Required: 1-2 years working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred 

Required License/Registration/ Certification:  

  • NYS RN Licensure 
  • NYS Driving License  

Training:  

  • New Hire Orientation 
  • Therapeutic Crisis Intervention
  • SCIP-R
  • CPR

Physical Requirements:  

•Strength:  Sufficient to assist with lifting and transferring a patient, and perform CPR. 

•Mobility:  Sufficient mobility to bend, stoop, and bend down to the floor; ability to move around rapidly; and to move in small, confined areas. 

•Hearing:  Sufficient to hear through the stethoscope to discriminate sounds; to hear cries for help; to hear alarms on equipment and emergency signals; and various overhead pages. 

•Vision:  Sufficient to make physical assessments of patients and equipment. 

•Communication:  Able to communicate in both verbal and written formats; and interact with clients, staff, and faculty supervisors.
