POSITION SUMMARY

 

The Glass Operations Supervisor will report directly to Plant Manager. He/she/they will direct and manage all plant operations. They will work closely with QC lab and other company staff to ensure that they meet production targets, products attain a high-quality standard and production employees working on the floor adhere to safety protocols at the Waterdown, ON location.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Direct and manage glass plant operations.
  • Maintain safe and clean work environment by training and directing production personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources, maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Establish and monitor overall plant performance for production and quality standards.
  • Control and minimize labor overtime and equipment repair expenses.
  • Maintain existing plant facilities and equipment; give suggestions to replace or adjust plant facilities and equipment when necessary to increase plant efficiency.
  • Implements and maintains preventative maintenance programs.  
  • Incorporates shop floor organization and plant cleanliness among plant personnel.
  • Ensure operation of production equipment by calling for repairs when required.
  • Actively participate in the safety processes of the plant including posting safety bulletins, performing weekly/monthly safety walks, and training, as well as any reporting required.
  • Conduct daily meetings with production crew.
  • Conduct safety observations and observe unsafe acts at the plant and fix it right away.
  • Monitor all inventory daily and order supplies and raw material as needed.
  • Achieve staff results by communicating job expectations, planning, monitoring, appraising job results, coaching, counseling production employees, and enforcing policies and procedures.
  • Resolve personnel problems by investigating issues, identifying solutions, and recommending action. Escalate to Plant Manager when needed.
  • Timely approve and submit payrolls for all hourly employees.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

  

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Multitasking and time management skills.
  • Good problem-solving abilities and Mechanical Aptitude.
  • Ability to lead a team.
  • Interpersonal skills, along with written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of safety laws and environmental regulations.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Proven experience as an operations supervisor or similar role.
  • Background in managing manufacturing equipment and process improvement.
  • High School Diploma. Bachelor’s degree/Diploma in a relevant field will be an advantage.
  • Hands-on experience Implementing and managing operations processes.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking on the production floor.
  • Must be able to access and navigate the production facility.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds at a time.
