We are seeking applicants for a Utilities Manager in our International Falls, MN Paper Mill.
The International Falls facility is a White Paper Mill owned by Packaging Corporation of America.
Position Purpose Summary: Ensure maximum efficiency, productivity, and continuous improvement of the Mill Power and Recovery operations.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Responsible for maximizing the resources in the department to ensure safe, efficient, and productive operation. Requires broad decision-making abilities with respect to operational conditions, planning and directing the efficient use of staff and the expenditure of financial budgets.
- Analyzes all aspects of department operations to identify opportunities for improvement and to develop strategies through methods, processes, equipment modification/purchase and staffing to accomplish department objectives.
- Works with Maintenance to ensure department equipment is properly maintained through effective PM program, well planned outages, and timely response to upset conditions.
- Works with Engineering and vendors on capital projects affecting department operations.
- Lead the preparation of department annual budget and the administration of the approved budget.
- Identifies training needs for department personnel and secures resources to provide such training.
- Is responsible for properly administering the provisions of the Labor Agreement as they relate to the Power and Recovery department.
As a member of the Power and Recovery department, is responsible for knowing and following policies and procedures of the Company; for sharing information that would benefit other members of the team; and for finding ways to improve the delivery of service to our customers. Works closely with department personnel at all levels, with management in other departments and within PCA.
Requirements:
- Experience in pulp and paper manufacturing. (preferably Recovery Boiler, liquor cycle and steam turbines)
- Education: Bachelor’s degree (preferably in engineering or paper science), or equivalent experience.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Good computer skills
- Able to work extended hours and weekends as operational conditions dictate.
