Director - Sales Marketing Research & Insights 

 

Job Summary

This role is a research marketing role that will help drive The Inquirer’s sales revenue and brand communications goals.  

 

What You’ll Do

  • Collaborate with the Ad Sales team to research and tell the story of the Inquirer’s audience, brand, and ecosystem, across all platforms including print, digital, social and live events. 

  • Leverage all research sources - including first party, third party, and syndicated - to tell compelling stories, for sales and brand proposals, response to RFPs, and proactively to inform strategy.

  • Manage custom research studies on behalf of advertisers (e.g., ad effectiveness, brand lift). 

  • Lead research initiatives and keep a pulse on consumer sentiment, trends, and the broader media marketplace to inform recommendations. 

    • Synthesize data and research findings into action-oriented insights for the sales team to drive revenue. 

    • Field, analyze, and package primary research to share key learnings, using data to create compelling narratives for sales materials. 

  • Develop go-to-market (GTM) sales positions and materials in partnership with leadership, exploring competitive set, and customizations based on business verticals and audience targets.

  • Collaborate on interesting visual ways to present data in brand and sales materials working with INQStudio.

  • Work collaboratively with key sales stakeholders to assess business problems and translate insights into action-oriented business recommendations. 

  • Develop insights and key facts dashboard, democratizing staff access to information. Consistently update and improve.

  • Own research vendor relationships, communicating and aligning on approach and establish best practices. Negotiate contracts and manage agreement terms.

  • Work closely with sales leadership to host reader panels and surveys to drive sales, events, and brand goals. 



Who We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience on media research teams, publisher- or agency-side

  • 2+ years of people and project management experience

  • Innovative and explorative with the ability to analyze and communicate data insights

  • Keeps up to date on trends and best practices in marketing and media industry

  • This position is designated as hybrid and will require onsite work and meeting with clients local to Philadelphia. Candidates must live within a commutable distance to Inquirer headquarters.
