Seasonal Team Leader - Day Camp at Speers

POSITION PURPOSE

Under the general supervision of the Executive Leader, the Program Leader, manages the day to day operations of Camp Speers and serves in a leadership capacity for all Camp Speers programming.

ROLE SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

• Associates Degree (Bachelor’s Degree preferred) in Recreation, Child/Adolescent Development, Outdoor Education/Leadership, Elementary or Secondary Education, or a related field and 1-3 years of experience working in a Camp or Recreational Environment.
• Desire and ability to work with people of all ages.
• Thorough understanding and appreciation of child and adolescent development and ability to design and implement programs, policies and protocols to support that development.
• Ability to communicate and work with individuals or groups participating in environmental education and proven necessary instruction to campers, parents and staff.
• Ability to operate motor vehicles and meet the safe driving requirements of the association.
• Ability to motivate staff and customers.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• High energy and creativity with a strong grasp of the YMCA mission.
• Additional certifications (WFR, WFA, LGT, WSI, Ropes, etc.) a plus
