The Association Day Camp Director will lead the brand and growth for 30 plus Day Camps; manage the standards for Association wide Day Camp programs; Provide support to Executive Leaders and Program Directors in order to promote the organization’s mission; oversee the progress of program operations that increase quality and service delivery.

What You'll Do:

  • Innovate and Grow programming internally and externally
  • Project Manage rollouts, assessments and related activities involving Day Camp.
  • Support quality enhancement and consistent service delivery across the Association (to include external accreditation entities)
  • Partner with field staff and AO staff to solve problems and achieve objectives
  • Identify and support compliance/commitment to aquatics best practices
  • Manage the implementation and compliance of all external and internal requirements, policies and procedures as well as all relationships with external accreditation entities including but not limited to the American Camp Association (ACA) and YMCA of the USA.
  • Assess program performance and aim to maximize ROI.
  • Coordinate association-wide and branch specific staff trainings in cooperation with branches and appropriate Association departments.
  • Act as subject matter expert of Association policies and procedures, risk management, safety practices and applicable laws relating to Day Camp.
  • Lead by example at all times.  Interact with a high level of professionalism and accountability.
  • Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.
  • Develop and implement budget as needed, and support branch development of budgets.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Read and be accountable for YMCA, state licensing standards, and ACA guidelines, policies and procedures.
  • Supervise by being able to identify, KNOW, SEE, RESPOND to ensure the safety of each child in your direct care at all times. Adhere to small group/ratio established by DHS and ACA.
  • Assist in the supervision and planning of camp activities; ensure all campers can participate in all activities, no matter varied abilities whether physical, or intellectual. Actively participate in activities to encourage participation.
  • Interpret and maintain safety and health policies and procedures; review and understand your roles and responsibilities in emergency procedures
  • Ensure appropriate behavior of campers and staff to avoid risk of accidents; maintain awareness of camper well-being
  • Supervise the creation and maintenance of effective communication with parents/guardians regarding camper and camp activities.

  • Participate in staff training, meetings and conferences as required.

What Qualifications You'll Need: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in management or a relevant field, (master’s degree in related field preferred) with 5-10 years of related experience.
  • Thorough understanding of project/program management techniques and methods
  • Excellent knowledge of performance evaluation and change management principles
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office; working knowledge of program/project management software (Basecamp, MS Project etc.) is a strong advantage
  • Outstanding leadership and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent problem-solving ability
  • Exhibit strong leadership skills; possess a passion for member service, building and maintaining a culture of member service excellence.
