  3. Role Summary

  5. The Senior Accountant will lead the month-end close, manage general ledger reconciliations, maintain internal controls, and lead process improvements and automation. This role will also ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations, aid in audit preparations, and oversee Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) functions.

  3. This role will oversee the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable (Billing) function and processes.

 

Responsibilities

 

Accounts Receivable: 

  • Review and approve daily billings, including international B2B billing, payments posting (wire, checks, and credit card) and other AR-related transactions prepared by the billing team.
  • Assist the Billing team in identifying and resolving misapplied or unidentified customer payments.
  • Train and mentor Billing staff, ensuring high performance and adherence to processes.
  • Ensure customer queries are promptly resolved and closed in Salesforce.

Accounts Payable:

  • Manage day-to-day accounting activities, including reviewing invoices processed by the AP team. 
  • Review contract accuracy, track purchase orders (POs), and manage approval delegations.
  • Assist in maintaining the AP inbox and transition to AP automation software.
  • Train and mentor AP staff, ensuring high performance and adherence to processes. 

Month-end Close: 

  • Review and approve journal entries, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, including all general ledger accounts, at month-end ensuring audit readiness. 

Compliance: 

  • Support the preparation of Forms 990, 990T, and other tax filings.
  • Prepare various local, state, federal, and foreign filings for regulatory compliance.
  • Support annual audit preparations, including preparing reconciliations and supporting schedules.
  • Update internal controls and narratives as processes change, maintaining policy and procedure documentation.
  • Conduct technical accounting research and handle special projects as assigned by the Global Controller. 

Process Improvements: 

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation and lead automation projects. 
  1. Knowledge and Skills 
  • Proficiency in NetSuite accounting software
  • Advanced Excel skills, including experience with Power Query for data analysis and manipulation.
  • Proven experience in identifying and implementing process improvements and automation projects.
  • Familiarity with automation tools and technologies that enhance accounting processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to train and mentor AR (Billing) and AP teams.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Experience in managing multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Experience in audit preparation and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams. 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA certification or progress towards certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least two years in a Senior Accountant role. 

Physical Requirements and Work Environment 

  • Prolonged periods stationary at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Some national and international travel may be required.
  • Some flexibility to work across time zones. 

The base salary range we’ve established for this position is (US) $85,000 - $115,000. The final salary will depend on several factors, including the candidate’s relevant work experience, skills, education, and other qualifications; the region in which the candidate resides, and internal pay equity with current PLOS employees in similar jobs.
