JOB SUMMARY

The Port of Bellingham Maintenance Technician supports all Port facilities and perform general maintenance, repair, remodeling and construction duties. This position will have an emphasis on installing and maintaining electrical systems throughout the Port of Bellingham properties. The position may be required to perform other related maintenance work as required. The Maintenance Team includes working knowledge of several related skill fields such as electrical, plumbing, carpentry, welding, painting, mechanical, and machinist work. The Technician 5 level works under minimal supervision and performs a variety of skilled maintenance duties. May direct the work of lower-level technicians.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Safely and properly operate shop equipment, tools, and vehicles. 
  2. Install and repair electrical wiring, conduit, lighting repairs and LED ugrades, install and test metering devices, install and test ground fault monitoring systems. 
  3. Install, service, and repair HVAC systems, controls, VFD's, motors, pumps, and associated equipment.
  4. Maintain, test, and repair of Fire Alarm systems and equipment.
  5. Perform maintenance and installation of wiring systems including low to high voltage cables.
  6. Operate and maintain power distribution systems.
  7. Work together with co-workers and support a team atmosphere.
  8. Work safely and follow all safety rules and guidelines.
  9. Troubleshoot problems, collaborate with others and recommend solutions to reach a successful outcome.
  10. Communicate effectively and professionally with co-workers, supervisors and public.
  11. Maintain accurate and complete maintenance and service records. 
  12. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • HS diploma or GED
  • At least 5 years of maintenance experience in Institutional, Commercial, or Industrial electrical work.
  • Current WA State Journeyperson license (EL01)
  • Must be able to work outside in all types of weather, lift up to 60 lbs., walk on uneven and slippery surfaces, push, pull, reach, bend, and lift.
  • Must pass the security background check.

Preferred:

  • HVAC maintenance experience
  • Troubleshooting controls
  • Construction experience including low and medium voltage wiring systems
  • Power distribution systems experience
  • Fire Alarm wiring, testing, and maintenance
  • Experience with BACNet controls for HVAC systems and lighting systems
  • Flagger Certificate
  • Class A CDL

LICENSES REQUIRED

  • Valid Washington State driver’s license is required.
  • EL-01 Journeyperson Electrical license.
