Our facility is managed by Power Wellness Management, a company that specializes in managing state-of-the-art medically integrated health and fitness centers. Power Wellness is a medical fitness industry pioneer who improves the lives of clients with a unique and customized approach to medical fitness center development and management. Their turnkey method takes away the stress of the development and management process allowing clients to focus on other areas of their business.

 

The Fitness Operations Manager is responsible for providing leadership and supervision to the center team, including the Fitness, Aquatic, Group Exercise and Medical Integration departments. He/she contributes to achieving the overall client organizational strategic direction and goals through efficient and effective delivery of services to members and guests of the center. They work collaboratively with the Center Director and all center management teams to assure consistent provision of services and care is achieved with Power Wellness support, collaboration, and coordination. They will oversee programming and ensure that the services offered are profitable and meet the varying needs of members. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Provide leadership, supervision, and support to reporting departments. Reporting departments typically include all or a combination of the following: Member Services, Sales, Fitness/Training/Group Exercise, Aquatics, Medical Integration, Childcare, Environmental Services, Massage Therapy.

2. Assist Fitness Center Director with daily center operations and provide leadership in the absence of the Center Director.
3. Assist with member retention by encouraging the development of member retention programs on a consistent basis.

4. Oversee and ensure compliance with all physician approval and clearance procedures, testing procedures and medically integrated programs.
5. Review and evaluate fitness programs and services based on attendance, cost-effectiveness, and member interest.
6. Coordinate and ensure that all mock codes, safety drills and monthly safety audits are performed in compliance with Power Wellness standards and that all incident reports are followed up with appropriately.
7. Make recommendations for purchasing new fitness equipment as needed and stay current with industry trends.
8. Responsible for the upkeep of all fitness equipment to include preventative maintenance, servicing, and re-upholstering.
9. Coordinate student internship programs to comply with Power Wellness standards and allow for a positive learning experience to qualified graduate and undergraduate students.
10. Responsible for hiring and training all Fitness Department staff.
11. Assist with development of fitness department operating and capital budgets annually.

12. Ensure compliance with all Power Wellness policies and procedures provided for center operations to help maximize operational efficiencies and minimize any potential risks.

13. Work together with Human Resources to ensure appropriate staffing requirements and compliance with HR policies and procedures. 

14. Responsible for managing reporting department’s strategic and operational goals within the approved operating budget. 

15. Administer medically based programs in coordination with the Medical Integration Department; focusing on wellness based, local demographics and needs within the health system, community, and member population. 

16. Participate in the medical advisory committee (MAC) to consult and provide professional input related to medically integrated programming and ensure there is a high level of engagement between the MAC and the center’s programs, services, and safety protocols. 

17. Represent the center with involvement and attendance at off-site community events such chamber organizations, health fairs, service clubs and corporate events with the intent of sharing center information and procuring memberships. 

18. Responsible for the planning and development of fiscal year operating and capital budgets in cooperation with Operations, Power Wellness and client accounting departments. 

19. Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications: 

• Bachelor's degree in exercise science, kinesiology, physical education, or health care/fitness related field required.  Master's degree preferred.

• Minimum 3 years of experience in a management position required.

• Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience required.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in the fitness/wellness industry required, preferably in a fitness facility.
• Nationally recognized NCCA accredited certification required.
• ACSM clinical exercise certification highly desirable.

• Excellent sales, marketing, writing, presentation and tracking skills required.

• Experience in implementation of capital/operating budgets, human resource development, marketing, retail/membership sales, medical integration and wellness programming preferred.

• Ability to lead a team and manage multiple projects through completion with high level of organizational skill, efficiency and goal attainment.

• CPR/AED certification required within 90 days of hire (provided by Power Wellness)

• Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work with members in a positive, service-based manner.

• Ability to multi-task and maintain a controlled and professional demeanor with a high level of organizational skills and efficiency.

• Proficient computer skills.

• Ability to exercise sound business judgement without supervision on human resources and administrative matters of significance.
