Program:          New Providence

Salary Range:   $68,250-$75,600         

 

Program Description:

The New Providence Women’s Shelter is a 130 bed 24/7 emergency shelter for homeless women diagnosed with mental illness and/or substance use disorders. Our comprehensive services include case management, individual and group counseling, recreational activities and housing placement assistance.  Additionally, an on-site Article 28 Clinic provides primary and behavioral health care services.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The essential duties of the Assistant Director include but are not limited to the following activities:

  • When on call, ensures that Priority One incidents are submitted to both Project Renewal and DHS staff in a timely fashion providing all relevant information and documentation as soon as possible following the incident--no later than 4 hours of the P1 occurring.  Please don't forget to email Shannon the details of the incident. 
  • Review Shift Summaries as they are published.
  • Supervises Residential Aide program staff to ensure that services are being provided to the clients, security protocols are being followed, and that notations are being made in the designated logs--should review logbooks weekly to ensure logs are adequately documented. (logbooks and shift summaries should match).
  • Ensures that staff are provided training in required skills, including communicating and interacting with clients, security protocols and use of security equipment, record keeping and incident reporting.
  • Participation in Case Conferences--should be scheduled in advance unless there is a particularly difficult client to engage who is available in the moment.  This should only be done if your schedule can manage it.
  • Available to respond to emergencies 24/7/365.
  • Attend all scheduled DHS meetings.
  • Participate in PRI meetings--incident review, performance workshops, etc.
  • Weekly schedule--should be posted by COB Wednesday for following week.
  • Provide supervision to 3 shift supervisors and 1 Operations Coordinator on a bi-weekly basis--supervision notes should be documented.
  • Communicate building maintenance and Security concerns to Program Director as they occur.
  • Maintain a cooperative relationship with DHS Peace Officers.
  • Monitors the implementation of the Shelter Emergency Plan, which includes conducting required Fire Drills three times a month; maintaining the records to have current certificates for Fire Safety & CPR, scheduling staff for training as needed.
  • Ensures that all levels of incidents are generated in CARES and provides accurate and detailed information of each incident.  This includes providing appropriate follow-ups to CARES incidents on weekly basis for those that require updates.
  • Conducts a weekly check of security systems (cameras), wands & magnetometer to ensure everything is operating as expected.
  • Submits incidents into PRI's WeShare within 48 hours of occurrence.  This task is shared with the Clinical Director.

 

Qualifications:

  • BA degree in social work or related human services is preferred; or Associates degree with minimum of five (5) years’ experience, working with mentally-ill.
  • Fire Guard certification F-02 or Fire Safety Coordinator F-80 
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and motivate staff to accomplish stated program goals and objectives while developing their individual and group skills.
  • Ability to develop and foster, through demonstration, a team spirit, enabling staff to overcome the challenges of providing needed services to a special client population.
  • Excellent oral, writing, and listening skills are a must.
  • The ability to work well within a highly pressurized, deadline environment, while meeting the short- and long-term mandates of the program.
  • An ability to interface with clients as well as all levels of staff.
  • Knowledge of case management software as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

 

 

 

All newly hired Project Renewal staff must provide verification of being fully vaccinated against Covid-19.
