Utilities Maintenance Technician - BP (USA)

Purpose

The primary purpose of this role is to maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and improve the various utility systems around the plant and property.  Ensure that quality, safety, performance, and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are met.  Support and encourage continuous improvement.

 

Areas of Responsibility / Tasks  

  1. General Policy
  1. Ensure all equipment, building and plant operations are SAFE and in good working condition.
  2. Lead the maintenance and operation of the Dissolved Air Floatation (DAF) wastewater pre-treatment system.
  3. Lead the maintenance and operation of the Reverse Osmosis (RO) water treatment system.
  4. Lead the maintenance and operation of the production gas fired boiler system.
  5. Lead the maintenance and operation of the production chilled water system.
  6. Lead the maintenance and operation of the dust control systems.
  7. Lead the maintenance and operation of the building systems such as:  water softeners, back-flow preventers, compressed air, fire suppression system, etc.
  8. Work with Contractors, Vendors, OEM Suppliers and Machine Shops as necessary.
  9. Plan, organize and execute tasks and/or repairs for areas of competency.
  10. Implement engineering changes to equipment as necessary.
  11. Coordinate parts orders as needed for repairs and projects.
  12. Ensure schedule and delivery of parts and equipment are communicated as needed to eliminate down time.
  13. Create and track performance data points for equipment when needed. Demonstrate skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines.
  14. Read and interpret equipment manuals, schematic diagrams and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
  15. Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments.
  16. Assist with regular preventive maintenance on machines as needed.
  17. Maintain tools and consumables in good working condition and well organized.
  18. Follow all Quality, Safety, and Environmental Procedures.
  19. Uphold the Blue Polymer Code of Conduct standards.
  20. Support Continuous Improvement efforts as needed.
  21. Ensure all work is performed to standards and documented within the CMMS system.
  22. Other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager and Maintenance Manager.

 

Minimum Qualifications/ Education / Experience / Certifications

  1. Education:
  1. Must have High School diploma or of equivalent value.
  2. Must have completed vocational school Industrial Maintenance program or have two years (minimum) work experience in the field of Industrial Maintenance.
  1. Experience:
  1. Ability to operate a fork truck and articulate boom.
  2. Must possess excellent interpersonal, people management and problem-solving skills.
  3. Ability to read, speak and write English efficiently preferred.
  4. Previous experience with wastewater treatment and/or reverse osmosis systems a plus.
  5. Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills.
  6. Detail oriented and ability to prioritize.
  7. Ability to multi-task.
  8. Preferred if skilled in Microsoft Excel and Word.

  1. Must be comfortable working in a shared space, with constant noise, with/or without the use of a private office.
  2. Must be comfortable working in a non-climate controlled environment.
  3. Schedules may vary from week to week based on business demands in excess of 40 hours with or without notice.
  4. Some projects or repairs may require evening or weekend work to accommodate business needs.
  5. All injuries regardless of severity must be reported to your Supervisor/HR immediately.
