Maintenance Shift Technician - BP (USA)

Purpose

The primary purpose of this role is to provide relentless on-shift maintenance support for plant equipment, buildings, and operations.  Ensure that quality, safety, performance, and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are met.  Support and encourage continuous improvement.

 

Areas of Responsibility / Tasks  

  1. General Policy
  1. Ensure all equipment, building and plant operations are SAFE and in good working condition.
  2. Responsible for maintaining and improving the Preventative Maintenance System (PMS).
  3. Plan, organize and execute tasks and/or repairs as needed on shift.
  4. Implement engineering changes to equipment as necessary on shift.
  5. Perform troubleshooting on shift to maintain as much uptime as possible.
  6. Coordinate with production Shift Supervisor for planned downtime activities on-shift during line cleaning and product changeovers, to ensure maximum value of planned downtime.
  7. Responsible for repairs of equipment in a timely manner.
  8. Assist with installations of new and existing equipment as needed.
  9. Work with Contractors, Vendors, OEM Suppliers and Machine Shops as necessary.
  10. Responsible for Critical Spare Parts inventory and communicating part orders as needed / predicted.
  11. Predict parts orders as needed due to performance wear and fatigue of equipment.
  12. Ensure schedule and delivery of parts and equipment are communicated as needed to eliminate down time.
  13. Create and track performance data points for equipment when needed. Demonstrate skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines.
  14. Read and interpret equipment manuals, schematic diagrams and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
  15. Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments.
  16. Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines.
  17. Troubleshoot and repair equipment in a timely manner.
  18. Maintain tools and consumables in good working condition and well organized.
  19. Follow all Quality, Safety, and Environmental Procedures.
  20. Uphold the Blue Polymer Code of Conduct standards.
  21. Support Continuous Improvement efforts as needed.
  22. Ensure all work is performed to standards and documented within the CMMS system.
  23. Other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager and Maintenance Manager.

 

Minimum Qualifications/ Education / Experience / Certifications

  1. Education:
  1. Must have High School diploma or of equivalent value.
  2. Must have completed vocational school Industrial Maintenance program or have two years (minimum) work experience in the field of Industrial Maintenance.
  1. Experience:
  1. Ability to operate a fork truck and articulate boom.
  2. Must possess excellent interpersonal, people management and problem solving skills.
  3. Ability to read, speak and write English efficiently preferred.
  4. Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills.
  5. Detail oriented and ability to prioritize.
  6. Ability to multi-task.
  7. Preferred if skilled in Microsoft Excel and Word.

  1. Must be comfortable working in a shared space, with constant noise, with/or without the use of a private office.
  2. Must be comfortable working in a non-climate controlled environment.
  3. Schedules may vary from week to week based on business demands in excess of 40 hours with or without notice.
  4. All injuries regardless of severity must be reported to your Supervisor/HR immediately.
