As a Software Developer at Ross Video, you will play a key role in building new technologies to enhance our client's broadcast & stadium productions. Leveraging your experience working across the full stack, you will collaborate with our talented team to create storytelling tools to improve our client's quality-of-life.

What the job is all about:

Responsible for the execution of and participation in creative and technical services activities, including, but not limited to:

 

Application Development:

  • Participate in the full lifecycle of software development (requirements gathering, designing, building, testing and maintenance)
  • Collaborate with a team of phenomenal motion graphic designers to help bring their creative vision to life
  • Write clean, concise, and efficient code across the entire stack
  • Design and write tests
  • Identify and resolve bugs quickly
  • Influence products seen by millions of viewers

 

Device and Data Integration:

  • Develop integrations to external data sources for use in real time graphics applications via RESTful APIs, message-based queues (e.g. Active MQ), etc...
  • Travels to customer sites to commission field integrations with customer equipment that is not available in Ross Video Ltd’s laboratory for practical reasons. (not all cases).

 

Productivity Growth:

  • Works with Ross team members to identify and curate commonly used devices and user interface patterns to enable increasingly rapid development of new custom solutions that are partially based on these.
  • Create and update operational guidelines and support documentation to ensure Ross Video can effectively support customers in the future.

 

Who you are:

  • Knowledge of JavaScript or TypeScript
  • Knowledge of ElectronJS
  • Knowledge of NodeJS
  • Knowledge of TypeScript would be an asset
  • Knowledge of SQL Databases would be an asset
  • An avid, independent learner with excellent problem-solving skills
  • Enjoy working on high-visibility projects with fixed timelines
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and their priorities
  • Team-oriented
  • Ability to handle conflict in a professional and calm manner
  • Organized and very detail orientated
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and observational skills
  • Enthusiastic
  • Able to work co-operatively with Ross and end users and a good fit with our Code of Ethics and Culture Statements
  • 2+ years using front-end technologies (JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3), including a modern, popular JavaScript framework (we use React with Redux)
  • 2+ years using NodeJS
  • Video or multimedia production experience is highly desirable, especially graphics
  • System Integration experience

 

Other:

  • Willing to travel on a project-by-project basis, and spend the working week at customer premises.
  • Valid passport
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Sports fan, preferably in the six major professional North American sports leagues (American Football, Basketball, Hockey, Baseball, Soccer, and/or Golf), is highly desirable
  • Ross Ottawa Office or Remote (Canada or US)
  • Some travel required, up to 20%.
