Manufacturing Engineering Support Specialist

This position resides within the Manufacturing Engineering Services team. The group’s primary responsibilities are to support the Manufacturing Engineering Team, providing primary support for work instruction creation, MES project creation, change management and technical writing. This position is responsible for ensuring the quality and accuracy of our procedures, work instructions and product through consulting with technical owners and shop floor personnel, scheduled audits, and regular data metric review. Attention to detail, ability to work with others and a broad manufacturing process knowledge are key assets for this role. This role works out of our state of the art manufacturing facility, in Iroquois, On.

What the job is all about:

Create and maintain online documentation within a Manufacturing Execution System (MES) software platform, ensuring product build requirements and process workflows are clearly defined and easily accessible for shop floor operators.

Provide support to the production floor with respect to software used for production purposes. This includes implementation, training, troubleshooting and maintenance. Assist with build support and troubleshooting in all shop floor processes.

Implement MCO/ECO changes into the MES to ensure manufacturing has accurate BOM, documentation and programming information, ensuring proper data integrity and traceability.

Change management review of Engineering Change Orders (ECO’s) to ensure Bill of Materials and design data meet the requirements for MES importation.

Ensure product is quarantined and appropriately reworked/updated prior to shipment when a WIP/FIN change occurs.

Provide technical writing services for the Manufacturing Engineering team, assisting with creation of SOPs and training content for production processes.

Assist in MES to Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) integration, maintenance, and training including validating labour hours under the guidance of Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering.

Providing reports to assist the Manufacturing, Production, and Industrial Engineering teams

Creation of jigs/fixtures, and control documentation using CAD tools, while working with members of the Manufacturing Engineering team to prepare CAD/BOM files for automated equipment SMT, SPI and AOI.

Coordinate build requests for alternate component evaluations.

 

Job Requirements:

Knowledge/Education/Training:

Post-secondary education or equivalent work experience in a manufacturing environment.

Knowledge of CAD systems is an asset.

Advanced skill level with standard office tools (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook) and Microsoft Project.

Demonstrated knowledge of the manufacturing product lifecycle process.
