JOB SUMMARY:

The Programmer Analyst-Finance Systems is the internal technical expert responsible for the design and implementation of the financial and shared services applications. The Programmer Analyst-Finance Systems is also knowledgeable of other system deployment, particularly as it relates to the Great Plains Financial system as well websites. In this role the incumbent assists other team members as a guide in making key technical design and implementation decisions. The incumbent also develops practical and innovative ways to identify and meet goals. 


The person has expertise in solving complex business problems.  This person primarily organizes business and functional requirement and designs the appropriate solutions independently or with managed services support.  The incumbent is involved in determining the long-range strategic direction of systems and manages the process and business model changes required to make the Great Plains and Finance solution successful.   The incumbent provides applications and administration expertise in specific technical areas or modules and works with the team as the Sr. business solution resource for the technical team well as the end user/customer.  Ensures the installation, testing and promotion to production is completed in a timely and error free manner.  Requires significant expertise in applicable application and technology and bring a dynamic problem-solving ability to meet the demands of enterprise integration.  

 

The incumbent may work closely with the business to analyze business problems, recommend solutions, set technical direction, and prioritize enhancements and projects.  May be responsible for coordinating software development and project activities through all phases of software development or program installation and guiding and reviewing work of Programmer/Analysts per the direction of the Sr. Manager for Applications.  Ensure that departmental IT standards are adhered to, and that application processing complies with organization standards.  May be required to provide 7/24 production support coverage.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

  • Responsible for work that is less defined in scope and has the understanding and experience to execute business objectives.
  • Effect short-term and some long-term business goals
  • Perform many tasks during the creation and deployment of a solution for the business including project management, technical architecture design, physical design, technology strategy, managing contractors, and budgets and will play a key role in engaging may parts of the information technology staff and peers to insure a successful rollout of an application solution.
  • Serve as technical expert responsible for the design, implementation, and enhancement of the Great Plains system, which supports client and/or business objectives and plans.
  • Serves as the technical lead for commercial and well services subsidiaries in supporting their financial, procurement and asset management solutions.
  • Help define the replacement of our Great Plains financial platform and CMS as part of the IT Technology Roadmap.
  • Uses technical knowledge to design solutions to business problems.
  • Participates with the team and Managed Service Provider in the most difficult technical problems on Great Plains.
  • Assist and/or lead in the definition of systems solutions to functional problems, conforming to established system architecture standards and practices.
  • Drive solution reuse, reliability, performance, and scalability through growing knowledge of software design and of Great Plains.
  • Participate in business process evaluation / improvement activities, requirements gathering, system analysis, system design, software / hardware applicability studies and system implementation and executes projects based on these activities.
  • Provide input into the technology plan for the IT organization & ensures that plans for their assigned applications integrate effectively with other aspects of the technical infrastructure.
  • Advise management on application and supporting technology purchases and on future projects or environment upgrades / modifications.
  • Participate and/or lead in the analysis, design, coding, testing, documentation, implementation, and maintenance of information technology solutions for business processes.
  • Support, advise, assist, guide, in resolving problems for client users.
  • Work as a business partner with client users to evaluate / improve business processes and arrive at mutual, cost-effective solutions.
  • Conform to system architecture standards and practices and work with outsourced suppliers as required to keep up to date with enabling technologies.
  • Participate in the evaluation/implementation of third-party software solutions.
  • Assist in the development of technical specifications, bids, Requests for Proposals, budget formulation/management.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Proven experience as an Application Architect with a focus on the Great Plains Financial System.
  • In-depth knowledge of Great Plains architecture, modules, and functionalities.
  • Strong understanding of financial processes and workflows.
  • Expertise in system integration and customization.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex technical issues and provide effective solutions.

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Microsoft Dynamics GP certifications.
  • Experience with other ERP systems and financial software.
  • Knowledge of SQL, .NET, and other relevant technologies.
