SUMMARY:

The Content Quality & Optimization Specialist plays a pivotal role in maintaining and enhancing the quality and effectiveness of all SHRM content. This position is responsible for overseeing the quality assurance of diverse content formats—ranging from written content to multimedia—created across the content team. This role will also QA designed work through SHRM’s Omnichannel Organization and Outreach team. Additionally, the role involves optimizing content for online channels to improve SHRM's visibility and engagement. This includes managing SEO, content taxonomy tags, meta descriptions, and headlines to ensure content is discoverable and impactful. This role requires a blend of editorial skills and digital content optimization expertise, contributing significantly to SHRM's mission by ensuring content integrity and maximizing online performance.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

  1. Content Quality Assurance:
    • Ensure all content, regardless of format (text, video, infographics, podcasts, research, marketing emails/assets, etc.), meets SHRM’s quality standards for clarity, accuracy, and consistency.
    • Work closely with content creators across teams to uphold brand voice and guidelines, conducting thorough reviews and edits as necessary.
  2. Content Optimization:
    • Learn and implement SEO fundamentals, including keywords, meta descriptions, and taxonomy tags, to improve content visibility and performance across online channels.
    • Optimize content taxonomy tags, meta descriptions, and keywords to enhance user engagement and discoverability.
  1. Collaboration and Guidance:
    • Collaborate with digital marketing and content teams to align quality assurance and optimization efforts.
    • Provide guidance on best practices for content creation and optimization, staying updated on the latest trends and technologies in content strategy.
  2. Quality and Style Guidelines:
    • Maintain and update the SHRM Style Guide and Word List, ensuring it encompasses all content formats.
    • Educate and advise team members on content quality standards and best practices for online optimization.

 

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, marketing, or a related field.

 

EXPERIENCE:

  • Required: 5+ years of experience in content creation, copyediting, and proofreading across multiple formats, with a proven track record in optimizing online content.
  • Preferred: Experience in SEO, digital marketing, or content strategy.

 

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Required:
    • Strong grasp of the English language, with excellent editing and proofreading skills.
    • Knowledge of SEO best practices and experience with content management systems.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Proficiency in MS Word, Adobe Acrobat, MS Excel, InCopy, and other relevant tools.
  • Preferred:
    • Understanding of digital analytics and ability to interpret data to inform content strategies.
    • Experience with multimedia content quality assurance.

Physical Requirements

  • Capable of performing essential duties with reasonable accommodations. 
  • Work involves sitting, talking, hearing, and typing, with visual acuity required for keyboard usage, data analysis, and computer terminal operation. 
  • Occasional light lifting may be necessary. 

Work environment

  • Work is primarily conducted in a professional office setting, utilizing standard office equipment. 
  • Expected office presence of 3 days per week. 
  • Minimal travel requirements, less than 10%

The hiring range for this position is $55,000 to $65,000 per year. This range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on the candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications.
