The Senior Specialist, Educational Programs serves as an integral member of the SHRM Educational Programs team. This position works closely with the Manager, Educational Programs to implement the overall educational programs strategy with the goal of delivering the highest caliber of service and programming to SHRM members and the greater business community. This position will also deliver the required understanding and front-line management for all SHRM educational programs (virtual, face to face and blended). 
 
Position Description
  • In collaboration with the Manager, Educational Programs, develop, maintain, and regularly evaluate and report on the monthly and annual budget for SHRM Educational Programs. 
  • Monitor budget variances and forecasts and planning appropriate adjustments to maintain and grow profit margins.
  • Serve as primary relationship manager for classroom and virtual program instructors.
  • Collaborate in the scheduling and programming of all SHRM educational program dates, locations, and instructor assignments.
  • Continuously monitor program attendance, attendee satisfaction and program/product set-up, through internal platforms as well as online. 
  • Advise on curriculum to the Society's overall mission to promote business literacy and support the human resource profession, including using data analysis and market intelligence to identify topics, trends and learning models for new educational programming.
  • For virtual programs, manage all delivery logistics to include access and functionality of the virtual training platform, the program schedule for all virtual and hybrid programs, provide technical support throughout programs and support outside the normal business hours.
  • Serve as the on-site manager for in-person programs, including on-site operations at all off-site and on-site venues, work collaboratively with the SHRM Events team to communicate, track and confirm meeting space logistics, F&B arrangements and deliverables for all on-site program materials.
  • Manage production of all program materials, including working collaboratively with the Instructional Design team, verify accuracy of content, pre- and post-program logistical information all while delivering within budgeted guidelines.
  • Work collaboratively with several departments across SHRM to manage a team of SHRM On-Site Coordinators and Virtual Tech Producers 
Position Qualifications
  • Required:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Education, or related field; or equivalent relevant experience
    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in managing programs/events and/or projects or equivalent level of experience in project/program administration
    • Well versed in financial reporting and data analysis to inform business decisions.
    • Ability to develop and manage budgets, financial analysis, and reporting.
    • Excellent communication skills, including editing, writing and verbal skills. 
    • High attention to detail. 
    • Ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet critical deadlines. 
    • Ability to interact in a positive manner with stakeholders at various levels within an organization and display strong customer service skills, diplomacy, and tact. 
    • Ability to creatively problem solve in a fast-paced environment. 
    • Ability to work positively with partners in coalitions, in teams, and independently.
    • Strong proficiency in MS Office Suite, budgeting and financial analysis platforms, database applications and CRM platforms.
    • Knowledge of adult learning principles and Virtual Training Environments
  • Preferred:
    • Experience in budget management, event planning, project management, or customer service 
Physical Requirements 
  • Must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily with reasonable accommodations.
  • Work is generally done sitting, talking, hearing, and typing. Visual acuity to use a keyboard, prepare and analyze data and figures; transcribing, viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
Work Environment
  • Work is regularly performed in a combination of office and conference settings and routinely uses standard office equipment.
  • Travel Required: 0-10%

The hiring range for this position is $82,000 to $107,000 per year. This range is an estimate and the actual salary may vary based on the candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications.
