Position Summary
Provide overall copywriting and content development support to the Marketing & Communications Division by creating engaging and intentional copy across various platforms for all University audiences.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop well-researched, engaging, error-free and intentional copy, telling the University’s story, for a variety of audiences using multiple platforms including web, social media, blog, thought leadership, emails, video, reports and print collateral pieces
- Promote Sacred Heart University’s mission, brand and voice through clear and compelling messaging that aligns with institutional goals
- Organize schedules/timelines to ensure drafts and finished projects are completed within deadlines
- Conduct in-depth interviews and research in order to develop original content
- Implement industry best practices
- Help develop an editorial calendar that meets University goals
- Manage, revise, rework and edit existing content for use in multiple channels with user experience in mind
- Collaborate with marketing and communications colleagues to develop a variety of content marketing materials
- Interpret creative needs of content constituents and produce into copy the concepts and content they need
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, & Other Attributes
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, English or a related field
- Ability to write targeted content for a myriad of audiences
- Demonstrated success in developing search-optimized content for web
- Successful management of a business social media presence
- Attention to details and deadlines
- Experience in producing copy for digital, print and broadcast channels
- Exceptional skill in understanding the nuances of social media writing, including the use of hashtags, emojis and acronyms
Unusual Working Conditions
Evening and weekend hours may be required. Occasional travel required.
