Position Summary

Oversee designated AV projects for the university. The position requires planning and developing strategy, including defining the goals and timeline for assigned projects. This position assists the IT division’s strategic efforts to maintain current technology solutions that meet University demands.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage AV project intake process
  • Coordinate, document, and assign tasks for the project team and provide the team with direction and support
  • Maintain AV project list
  • Maintain AV standards documentation and design repository
  • Manage the budget, timeline, and resources for assigned projects
  • Monitor problems, provide solutions, and implement changes as necessary to ensure the project timeline is followed
  • Manage and maintain vendor relationships
  • Regularly report progress to stakeholders
  • Maintains working knowledge of all AV system implementations and assists in troubleshooting and modifications when necessary
  • Transitions completed projects to the operational team
  • Assign resources to projects and project objectives and monitor progress
  • Develop project plans and facilitate resolution of all issues to reach project goals
  • Manage project budget to deliver the project at or below cost target
  • Manage and communicate ongoing changes in tasks, goals, or performance
  • Participate in client meetings, site surveys, contract finalization, and development of requirements and specifications
  • Prepare written specificationsas it relates to any permanent equipment installation
  • Update AV standards documents and maintain AV system design repository
  • Coordinate with vendors, contractors, clients, internal IT and audio-visual teams to deliver assigned projects
  • Coordinate technical training for new installations
  • Research faculty and student requests and make recommendations for equipment or software acquisition
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Other Attributes

  • Bachelor’s degree in technical field preferred or 3-5 years equivalent work experience 
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office products and project management software
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Experience reading wiring diagrams and system design drawings
  • Experience with audio-visual renovation or new audio-visual construction projects
  • Knowledge of telecommunications cabling infrastructure
  • Technical audio-visual certifications required

Unusual Working Conditions

Working after hours and over the weekend to complete assigned tasks are sometimes required.
