Position Summary

To provide primary administrative and coaching support to the program’s head coach and secondary support to others in work areas impacting the quality and efficiency of the day-to-day operation of the intercollegiate men’s lacrosse program, i.e., communications (telephone, written), budget paperwork, and the preparation and implementation of a recruitment plan for the University’s Division I men’s lacrosse program.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist with promoting educational values consistent with the philosophy and standards of the University’s intercollegiate athletics program.
  • Assist with the design and implementation of a recruitment and retention program for men’s lacrosse.
  • Assist in offering input and suggestions to assure the success of the University’s Division I intercollegiate men’s lacrosse program, both on the court and in the classroom, including community outreach.
  • Assist in developing well-written, clean, and professionally drafted recruiting letters, including professional home visit presentations, as well as well-organized campus visit itineraries.
  • Assists the head coach in planning and developing meeting schedules, travel coordination, hotel arrangements, etc.
  • Assist the head coach in ensuring the program is compliant with the NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Assist the head coach with the day-to-day coordination of lacrosse-related communications and interactions with athletes, colleagues, and recruited families.
  • Assist with monitoring team members' eligibility in conjunction with the Athletics Compliance Officer.
  • Assist the head coach with the training and conditioning of team members.
  • Assist the head coach with preparing expense travel reconciliation reports, including tracking and reconciling the office AMEX credit card.
  • Assist the Director of Athletics as a liaison with other institutional operating units (President’s Office, Vice President for Enrollment Planning & Student Affairs, Provost Office, Business Office, Buildings and Grounds, Public Safety, Student Life, Pitt Center, etc.).
  • Assists the head coach with planning and preparing special team projects and activities, such as awards nights and celebrity Breakfasts.
  • Assists with schedule development and travel and meeting schedules, including booking plane reservations, hotels, etc., in collaboration with the Senior Associate Athletics Director
  • Assists the head coach with the coordination of appointments and meetings.
  • Other duties assigned

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Other Attributes Other Attributes

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • 3-5 years of experience coaching and recruiting at the college level, preferably Division I.
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Must have advanced fundamental athletic skills to teach and supervise as directed by the head coach.
