Simon and Schuster is looking for an Editorial Assistant for Atria Books. Reporting to one Editor-in-Chief and one Executive Editor, the responsibilities include reviewing manuscripts; general administrative duties; communicating with authors and agents by phone and email; drafting sales copy; organizing schedules and meetings; sales and category research; and expense tracking.

Must be:

  • Reliable, friendly, organized, and flexible.
  • Be able to work independently, confidentially, and professionally in a fast-paced office environment.
  • Possess strong MS Office skills, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as internet research and social media skills.
  • Possess strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrate strong familiarity with and passion for popular contemporary non-fiction and fiction titles.
  • Excellent organizational and follow-through skills and an attention to detail and deadlines are necessary.
  • Demonstrated interest in quality commercial and literary fiction, pop culture, current events, and narrative nonfiction (including memoir, popular history and science) preferred.

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable.
