Primary Objective:

The Revenue and Technical Accounting Manager will support the Company’s accounting for revenue across all its programs and long-term development contracts, as well the assessment of complex technical accounting matters. The Accounting Manager is a people leading position.

Major Areas of Accountability:

  • Lead the preparation of monthly revenue analyses of our long-term development contracts, ensuring compliance with SkyWater revenue recognition policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with key SkyWater stakeholders, including sales and program management, to gather appropriate customer and program updates to facilitate monthly revenue recognition.
  • Ensure SkyWater internal control over financial reporting is followed and the deficiencies are identified and remediated timely.
  • Lead the assessment of how to account for complex and nonstandard transactions in accordance with GAAP, including the evaluation of different accounting options, documentation of positions taken and conclusions reach by SkyWater, and ensuring such conclusions are appropriately reflected in the accounting records.
  • Lead the assessment and adoption of new accounting standards issued by the FASB.
  • Evaluate existing accounting policies and suggest updates and improvements as needed.
  • Responsible for supporting timely monthly financial close activities which includes journal entry and balance sheet reconciliation preparation and review.
  • Provide leadership and oversight to assigned revenue and technical accounting staff.
  • Streamline and improve accounting processes and controls, including system enhancements and upgrades.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Accounting or Finance 
Experience and/or Training:

  • 5+ years of accounting experience.
  • Strong Accounting and GAAP knowledge.
  • Understanding of Internal Controls and SOX.
  • Success in working across functional areas with strong verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Experience managing multiple projects and team members.
  • Demonstrated ability to (1) work independently as a self-starter, as well as part of a larger accounting and finance team; (2) manage time effectively; (3) prioritize work of themselves and the team and re-prioritize as needed.
  • Willingness to dive into the details and assist the team with completing tasks to meet a given deadline.
  • Proficient at handling conflict resolution and working with positions at all levels and across multiple functions. 
  • Certified Public Accountant (Active or Inactive) preferred.

Technology/Equipment: Strong Computer Skills (Microsoft Office, NetSuite, Smartsheet, Tableau, etc.)
