About the Position:

 

Perform maintenance and repair of electrical/electronic devices, fixtures, and systems utilized in the steel making process.  

 

Main Responsibilities:

 

  • Continuous planning and organizing of outages, including ordering and maintaining adequate spare parts and equipment.
  • Preventative maintenance routs for lighting, power distribution equipment (breakers, disconnects, switches, other), lift stations, cameras, and multiple types of instrumentation.  
  • Installs and repairs electrical systems, apparatuses, and electrical and electronic components of industrial machinery and equipment, following electrical code, manuals, schematic diagrams, blueprints, and other specifications, using hand tools, power tools, and electrical and electronic test equipment: Installs power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment, such as cameras, conveyors, and programmable controllers, following electrical code and blueprints.
  • Diagnoses malfunctioning apparatuses, such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures, using test equipment, and replaces damaged or broken wires and cables, using hand tools.
  • Diagnoses and repairs or replaces faulty electronic components, such as relays, switches, and motors, and positions sensing devices.
  • May diagnose and replace faulty mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components of machines and equipment.
  • Work closely with operations personnel to reduce downtime and improve equipment utilization.
  • Working Continuous Improvement projects.
  • Responsible for ensuring completion of jobs as well as scheduling follow up work in areas of responsibility.
  • Work with the Electrical Planner & area Maintenance Manager to develop and make revisions to lockout procedures.
  • Work with the Electrical Planner & area Maintenance Manager to develop and make revisions to preventative maintenance procedures.
  • Work with maintenance team to develop safe job procedures & practices.
  • Coordinate with appropriate personnel and departments to maintain buildings and equipment at a level that ensures the safety of the work force and attainment of production & quality objectives.
  • Coordinate with operations and maintenance personnel to ensure that required planned maintenance occurs during scheduled down days and outages.
  • Drive new projects from start to completion.
  • Ensure appropriate levels of functioning spares are on hand at all times to support production and quality objectives.

 

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Knowledge of methods, equipment, and materials used in the electrical trade.
  • Principals of electrical theory as applied to electrical and electronic circuits, wiring and electrical equipment used in industrial processes.
  • Work from blueprints, diagrams, and sketches.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationship with others.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience as an electrician in an industrial setting (construction and/or maintenance).
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Experience with construction in a heavy industrial setting
  • Experienced with the startup of new equipment
  • Maintenance Connection or similar CMMS experience
  • Five years of experience as an industrial electrician/ maintenance.
  • A high level of written and oral communication skills
  • A good understanding of production planning and maintenance systems
  • Mid to high-level computer skills
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills
  • Experience with PLC’s, feedback control systems as well as AC and DC drives.
  • Understanding of ladder logic and/or function block
  • Understanding of hydraulic systems
  • Knowledge of level-1 PLC Control; AB SLC-500, PLC-5/5000, Control Logix, etc.
  • Excellent knowledge of Basic control schemes; PID’s, Path regulators, speed control, etc.
