Director of Revenue Cycle provides leadership, direction, and operational authority for all functions within the central billing office, customer service, collections and field office coordinator departments. This position will have complete oversight of the Revenue Cycle team and will include the following functions: day-to-day billing operations, staff management, standard operating procedure development and ensure departmental goals are met.

Overview:

 

  • Provides leadership, direction, and oversees administration of the centralized billing office to ensure accomplishment of business objectives and goals.
  • Responsible for directing and overseeing all billing functions and applications.
  • Gather productivity, quality, and financial data from EHR and other sources and use to provide meaningful management information to the VP of Revenue Management, providers and other appropriate personnel on a regular basis to develop strategic plans for all functions related to the revenue cycle.
  • Cross departmental collaboration through effective communication across the organization
  • Ability to effectively communicate with customers, vendors, and other external partners.
  • Must be able to identify industry standards and adhere to best practices as well as recognize areas of opportunity and create efficiencies within the revenue cycle.
  • Establish revenue cycle benchmarks, standard of practices with policies and procedures consistent with organizational goals, infrastructure, state and federal requirements.
  • Management of all department employees, including hiring, integration, staff development, performance management, training, mentorship, etc.
  • Direct and oversee all functions of coding, claim management, billing, payment, collections, and coordinates credentialing processes
  • Keep abreast of Medicare, Medicaid, and other third-party payer rules and regulations with respect to billing and other matters and communicate this information to the physicians and appropriate personnel to help ensure increased cash flow and profitability on an ongoing basis
  • Work closely and partner with Controller to prepare month-end and year-end financial close
  • Makes, executes, and exercises independent judgement about management policies within scope of job description
  • Assist the CFO with compliance issues specific to billing services
  • Develop and implement the Finance Department and other revenue cycle policies and procedures, including all aspects of federal and state mandated compliance
  • Implement new processes and protocols as these become necessary and assigned
  • Conduct reimbursement monitoring for individual insurance carriers 
 


Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Healthcare or related field (preferred)
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience in healthcare or with third party payer plans (required)
  • 5 plus years of progressive management responsibilities in a healthcare setting (preferred)
  • Extensive knowledge of all facets of revenue cycle management and Medicare/Medicaid billing/coding rules and regulations(required)
  • Experience working with physician practice management systems and patient accounting systems (required)
  • Preferred system knowledge of Athena EHR and Billing system
