Therapeutic Associates, Inc., the Pacific Northwest’s premier outpatient physical therapy organization, is seeking an Assistant Controller to join our amazing support team. Therapeutic Associates serves patients in over 100 locations across Washington, Oregon, California and Idaho. Our administrative offices are located in Kent, Washington.

Overview:  

We are seeking an Assistant Controller who has comprehensive knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, and working knowledge of Federal, State and Local tax requirements. This position is integral to the preparation of financial statements, tax returns and management reports used in the operation of our business. The Assistant Controller will own the general ledger, lead audits and internal reviews and is a point person for engagement with the Clinic Directors on their financial results. This position will continually implement new systems and processes while engaging staff members in the accounting team to provide accurate and complete financial information necessary to make business decisions. The Assistant Controller is responsible for leading the accounting team, including hiring, training, and developing staff and engaging with leadership through the company to improve the clarity of financials results on the way to improving those results.

The ideal candidate will be a lifelong learner and strong collaborator. They must be a self-starter willing to jump in where needed, while maintaining accounting principles, following company policy and establishing processes where necessary

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Maintain monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, budgeting and forecasting models and perform financial modeling and analysis. Assists with business funding decisions.
  • Assists and provides back-up support and perform duties of A/P, A/R and Payroll duties as needed.
  • Responsible for reporting of check processing and maintenance of daily bank account information, reconciliation, and monitoring of cash balance activity.
  • Assists and provides back-up support for running in-house payroll and the payroll reporting processes in compliance with local, state and federal regulations, TAI policies and filing of local, state and federal tax return. 
  • Provides technical and analytical support and guidance to all TAI departments for accounting and payroll information system needs. The scope of work includes but is not limited to: development, implementation, management, training, reporting and monitoring of the payroll, human capital management system and accounting system and assisting in assessing IT needs for accounting functions with Controller.
  • Must have the ability to work with Controller and accounting team, including hiring, training, employee development, performance, and oversight of day-to-day activities.
  • Demonstrates team building and interpersonal skills by maintaining positive, collaborative, and constructive interpersonal relationships. Understands and practices the principles of effective teamwork.
  • Assess internal controls, including risk assessment and review areas of risk and implement operational best practices and develop and maintain generally accepted accounting policies and procedures.
  • Assists in planning, organizing and coordinating the year-end close process with internal and external auditors.
  • Other special projects or duties as assigned.

 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business and/or Finance required
  • Minimum of five years of accounting experience, preferably in a healthcare, service industry, or public accounting environment
  • Experience in corporate level accounting in a multi-unit organization is required
  • Demonstrated experience processing or working with payroll systems, understanding of A/P, A/R, balance sheet reconciliations, financial statements and analysis
  • Preference given to candidates with software experience with Dayforce Human Capital Management System, Great Plains/Dynamics and Concur
