Summary:

 

The Seafood Operations Manager oversees the day-to-day operations of our seafood facility and team members, in an efficient and cost-effective manner, within our protein warehousing facility. This individual will also oversee all inbound orders, including fresh and frozen product (to QC and check for accurate count and pricing), any dry related goods or materials, including equipment, machinery, and any other items that are used in a day-to-day function.  This person will also oversee the SOP’s and individuals who are responsible for inventory management, proper rotation of all products, and oversee and claims. This person will also manage and oversees outbound activities related to order-filling (working with production manager and team), stock replenishment (working with purchasing team), and ensuring all outgoing products are ices, packaged and palletized properly for efficient loading of trucks. Responsible for managing and overseeing payroll, addressing any issues that require customer service attention, and also overseeing all seafood facility, machinery and equipment operations, with the guidance of the Plant Manager. Oversees overall weekly and monthly inventory management, and loss prevention programs to ensure that inventory variances, spoilage and overall loss are at an absolute minimum.

 

What You’ll Do:

 

  1. Oversee existing Seafood operational systems, processes, and policies to support the organizations mission, of running the most efficient, profitable, and organized seafood operation possible¸ including providing senior management with regular fiscal and production reports, and suggesting ways to improve better management reporting, information flow, and overall organizational SOP’s.
  2. Work regularly with our Support Services (HR, IT and Finance), to ensure that all seafood reporting, files, IT issues, payables & receivables are all updated and correct what needs to be updated.
  3. Work with our collective teams, continuously tweaking any SOP’s that can make us operationally better.
  4. Schedule to oversee and meet with each team division leader, and maintaining and improving overall communication, sharing of new ideas, promoting collaboration and inclusiveness for everyone to feel they have a voice not only within their teams, but to the overall contribution, success and improvement of the entire Seafood Division.
  5. Work closely with purchasing on all products that are shipping from overseas, to ensure the best shipping rates, product and turn times.  As well as working with transportation, to ensure our local pick ups are being done in the most efficient, fiscally thought-provoking manner, taking time and OT into account.
  6. Troubleshoot and provide solutions for any day to day issues of any scope, including all personnel, equipment, machinery, injuries, disciplinary actions and write ups, and any customer and/or sales rep issues or questions.
  7. Ensure complete and proper regulatory compliance and adherence to all appropriate health and safety regulations, per the city and state health department, and any scheduled or unscheduled audits from NSF, Avendra, FDA, or USDA, in addition to making sure all cleanliness requirements, are followed both with regards for personal and inventory safety.
  8. Participates in divisional management team meetings, and provides any necessary support to the divisions.
  9. Directs the operations of the warehouse teams,  and communicates with the transportation team to ensure timely daily deliveries or special scheduled occurrences.
  10. Monitors individual and team performances via observation and regular reviews with team leaders to all ensure all goals, SOP’s, and efficiencies are being met.
  11. Develop and maintain a productive and collaborative work environment, where we are training and promoting from within, for those team members that are looking to improve and move up our corporate ladder.

About You:

 

  1. Several years working in the seafood industry, managing a team of at least 20-ppl in various departments, including purchasing, operations, production, and knowledge of all seafood categories (fresh, frozen & live), and species, with a focus on fiscal mindfulness and a comfort level managing a $40-$50mm/yr seafood operation.
  2. 3-5 years of experience in Facilities & Warehouse Management, with the ability to liaise with a sales team.
  3. Demonstrated leadership and vision in managing Warehouse Groups and overseeing major projects or initiatives.
  4. Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative management style, with a focus on people and culture.
  5. A demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards within a diverse workplace, focusing on integrity and inclusion.
  6. Excellent people skills, open to direction and collaborative work style and commitment to get the job done.
  7. Ability to challenge and debate issues of importance to the organization.
  8. Ability to look at all situations with an open and unbiased mind, and able to dissect from several points of view.
  9. Ability to delegate responsibilities effectively, through your team leaders in executing the overall facility agendas and objectives, while being fiscally and team focused.
