Essential Job Function:

 

Execute the day-to-day operations of the Houston Texans (“Club”) mascot program by working hand-in-hand with the Senior Mascot Program Manager to continually grow the TORO brand through TORO’s involvement with the in-game experience, community appearances, school programs, revenue generation, social/digital content and integrating the Club’s mascot program into the Club’s overall vision and mission.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

 

  • Manage administrative functions for the Mascot Program with duties to include, but not be limited to booking internal, external and corporate appearances to support organizational objectives, track all corporate assets involving mascot and ensure proper fulfillment, etc.
  • Perform as Club’s mascot during select appearances and events.
  • Assist and provide security for Club mascot at all non-gameday events and/or appearances.
  • Generate leads for revenue generation including mascot appearances and sponsorships.
  • Assist in the setup and performance of TORO School Program appearances and/or events.
  • Lead and execute production elements for all live and virtual school programs and or/events.
  • Direct TORO’s in-game show by managing gameday staff, coordinating all of TORO’s in-game elements (pregame appearances, skits, stunts, noise prompts, etc) and leading communication with the Game Presentation Manager throughout the game.
  • Assisting with creative performance planning (gameday skits, videos, noise prompts, stunts, and props).
  • Recruit, hire and manage interactive team members for Flag Crew, TORO’s Herd and Cannon operator.
  • Maintain and care for all costumes, props, equipment, promotional inventory, and vehicles.
  • Assist in brainstorming TORO social concepts and capturing social content when needed.
  • Assist in the execution of select grassroots events.
  • Provide significant input in the creation and execution of TORO’s Kids Club events and recruitment efforts.
  • Assist the Senior Mascot Program Manager in the development and management of yearly budgets for the department.
  • Continuously research, develop and execute innovative ideas and experiences to grow the TORO program.
  • Maintain availability and willingness to work extended hours, including nights, weekends and holidays and be on-call as necessary.  Will be required to work a flexible schedule based on the changing priorities of the department.
  • Must present self in professional manner and have the ability to interact with all employees at all levels in the Club and with outside contacts.
  • Provide superior customer service and ensure memorable fan experiences.

 

  • Perform various other tasks that may be assigned from time to time by the Sr. Mascot Program Manager or other departmental personnel.
  • Subject to reasonable accommodations, position requires routine face-to-face personal interaction with other Club personnel; therefore, job responsibilities must be physically performed in the Club offices and not in a telecommuting manner.

 

 

 

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year accredited college or university preferred.
  • High School Diploma required.
  • Experience in marketing and executing youth-based initiatives preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a high-energy environment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to develop solid working relationships at all levels across the organization.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction to complete personal goals and as a team member in order to accomplish department goals.
  • Excellent attention to detail and an ability to produce high-quality, accurate work within designated deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain confidential and/or proprietary information.
  • Ability and internal drive to demonstrate a winning attitude and a strong work ethic in the performance of all job responsibilities.
  • Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office software applications.

 

 

Physical Requirements:

 

  • Occasional travel related to job duties and responsibilities.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to talk, stand, walk, sit, drive, bend, squat, climb, twist and reach as necessary.
