Assistant Coach – Freeride Competition Ski Team


MAC Ski and Snowboard/Multnomah Athletic Club, Portland/Mt. Hood Meadows, Oregon - PT; Seasonal


Description:MAC Ski and Snowboard is searching for a freeride ski coach with competition experience to work with our Competition Team athletes in multiple disciplines, including Skicross, Half-Pipe, Slopestyle, Moguls, and Big-Mountain. Assistant Competition Team Coaches must be available to work starting on weekends in December, followed by Holiday Camp, December 27-30, and weekends from January through March, plus Nationals in April. Reporting is to the Head Freeride Team Ski Coach and Program Director/Head Coach.


The MAC Freeride Team is an all-discipline ski and snowboard team, teaching aspiring athletes the skills of all-mountain skiing and riding, backcountry safety and etiquette, avalanche awareness, ski–mountaineering fundamentals, and skill development for Skicross, Half-Pipe, Slopestyle, and Moguls competition. Our program is beginning to take off, sending 4 athletes to USASA Freeride Nationals at Copper Mountain in 2022 and 2023. As we take the Freeride Team to the next level, we need motivated coaches that fit our positive team culture and share in our mountain passion and zest for teaching youth skills and life lessons through snow sport.


MAC Ski and Snowboard is a Certified US Ski and Snowboard Club, serving the members of the Multnomah Athletic Club in multiple winter sports.


Qualifications:


1. Current professional certification from US Ski and Snowboard and/or PSIA, USASA, or IFSA, or has an experienced background in competitive snow sport as an athlete or coach.


2. Competitive team coaching experience.


3. Working knowledge of various athletic activities and facilities.


4. Demonstrated effective planning, organizational, and time-management skills.


5. Demonstrated technological proficiency including a working knowledge of computer applications and smart phone applications (i.e., email communication, Microsoft Office programs, use of Dayforce App for employee self-management, and use of Team Snap platform for scheduling and communication).




Pay/Benefits:The Assistant Ski/Snowboard Coach position has a base hourly rate of $21/hour. Coaching wage may increase based upon candidate's experience and professional certifications. Coaches earn a free season pass to Mt. Hood Meadows, receive employee discounts at our restaurants and shops, and enjoy the use of our world class athletic club in the Goose Hollow District of Portland, Oregon during their working season.
