Multnomah Athletic Club (MAC) is actively seeking a dedicated Banquet Setup Attendant to join our team. Position Summary:

As a Banquet Setup Attendant, your primary focus will be on ensuring the seamless setup, cleaning, and takedown of various event spaces. You will work closely with the Event Setup Lead, Catering Sales Coordinators, Banquet Captains, and Catering Manager to bring events to life. From private functions to banquets, your precision and dedication will contribute to the overall success of each event.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Flawless Event Setups: Execute flawless setups and takedowns for events, including furniture arrangement, table/chair setups, and other logistical tasks.
  • Friendly and Professional Demeanor: Embrace a friendly and professional demeanor, learning names to personalize interactions with colleagues, members, clients, and guests.
  • Prompt Assistance: Answer calls, emails, and Teams messages promptly, providing special assistance for room setups, cart loading, and equipment movement.
  • BEO Review and Execution: Review Banquet Event Orders (BEO) and seek clarification when needed to ensure precise execution.
  • Safety Compliance: Uphold Club safety policies and procedures, identifying and reporting unsafe conditions.
  • Leadership by Example: Lead by example in punctuality, appearance, and professionalism, promoting the MAC code of conduct.
  • Club Knowledge: Stay informed about Club details to confidently answer member and guest questions.

 

Job Scope:

As a Banquet Setup Attendant, your day-to-day tasks may vary, but your dedication to essential job functions remains constant. You might oversee multiple events simultaneously or handle smaller gatherings independently. Under general supervision and following BEOs, your attention to detail ensures smooth operations.

 

Interpersonal Contacts:

Forge strong connections within the organization, collaborating with various departments such as Sales, Kitchen, Restaurants, Athletics, Maintenance, IT, Housekeeping, Front Desk, and Managers on Duty. Your communication skills will shine as you exchange information, receive direction, and occasionally gather additional insights for your work.

 

Specific Job Skills:

  • Efficient Navigation: Navigate standardized formats efficiently to determine means, methods, and timing for outlined work.
  • Equipment Proficiency: Handle chair/table carts and general housekeeping equipment with expertise.
  • Adaptability: Adapt to a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Physical Prowess: Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 75 lbs., demonstrating physical prowess for essential job functions.
  • Relationship Building: Establish and maintain effective working relationships with members and staff.

 

Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills, including the ability to deal courteously with members.
  • Ability to follow directions, assignment worksheets, and work with limited supervision.
  • Previous room and event setup experience is a plus.

 

Job Conditions:

  • Engage in physical labor as part of your responsibilities.
  • Work a flexible schedule based on client and guest requests, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Be available for special occasions, including Easter, Mother’s Day, Thanksgiving Day, and the Annual Meeting.
