Key Responsibilities: 

As a Fitness Attendant, you'll play a vital role in helping our members achieve their fitness goals. Your major responsibilities include: 

  • Providing assistance to members with their fitness-related questions, whether related to general fitness, group fitness, or personal training. 
  • Utilizing problem-solving skills to enhance the department's performance and effectiveness. 
  • Becoming a subject matter expert in all fitness areas and associated programs. 
  • Collaborating with fellow Fitness Attendants to create a premier member experience. 
  • Assisting members with spotting exercises, movements, inquiries, or connecting them with other departments. 
  • Supporting the Fitness Operations Supervisor in evaluating fitness areas, programs, and equipment. 
  • Accomplishing daily tasks collaboratively to ensure efficient operations and foster self-reliance in your peers. 
  • Being a dependable first responder during medical emergencies and assisting the Manager on Duty (MOD) and others as needed. 
  • Punctuality and reliability in your role as a steadfast employee. 
  • Opening and closing the fitness spaces, ensuring proper setup and organization of equipment, towels, and cleaning supplies. 
  • Attending all staff in-services and trainings. 


Secondary Functions:
 

In addition to your primary responsibilities, you will: 

  • Guide members in using fitness equipment properly with a focus on mechanics. 
  • Attend monthly in-services and all Fitness, Athletics, and Wellness staff meetings. 
  • Take accountability for actions leading to an incident report during your shift.
  • Share suggestions for new or more efficient processes based on your experience in the role.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned. 

 

Qualifications: 

To excel in this role, you should have: 

  • A minimum age of 16 years. 
  • CPR, First Aid, AED certification, or a willingness to obtain it within 90 days of hire. 
  • Strong multitasking, time management, and prioritization skills. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • The ability to perform essential job functions. 
  • Exceptional customer service and decision-making skills, along with effective collaboration with peers and members. 
  • Physical capability to bend, twist, and lift up to 40 pounds regularly. 

 

Education and Experience: 

While not required, the following qualifications are preferred: 

  • Personal Training certification from organizations like ACSM, NASM, NSCA, or ACE. 
  • A minimum of 1 year of customer service or fitness industry experience with a proven track record of success. 

 

Working Conditions: 

In this role, you'll be using various cleaning supplies, fitness machinery, computers, tablets, lubrication, and recovery equipment. Expect to be on your feet, moving, carrying, and occasionally sitting while operating equipment/machines. Scheduling flexibility is key, as the role may require you to work during early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays to accommodate our members' needs.
