SUMMER INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW:
 

The Hanover’s Internship Program provides college students with the opportunity to work on a variety of critical business assignments, test your skills, use your academic knowledge, and match your interests to a real job.


Through the 10-week summer program​ (June – mid August), You will: 

  • Take on meaningful projects and work alongside some of the very best talent in the industry
  • Be supported and mentored by a community of exceptional talent (leaders, managers, subject matter experts and recent graduates) 
  • Participate in a cross-functional team building project focused on corporate philanthropy
  • Attend weekly development workshops with your intern peers
  • Join in engagement and social activities with other interns

Our Risk Solutions team provides a broad range of risk management (safety) solutions for our policy holders, using the latest resources and technology. We are currently seeking exceptional college students for our Summer Internship Program, which provides meaningful opportunities for personal and professional growth, as well as rewarding career path options.

 

IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:

Support Hanover Risk Solutions daily operational activities and long-term strategic initiatives.

Collaborates across functional areas to ensure the accuracy of insured information, data for regulatory audits, monthly vendor, and production reports.

Works on assignments that are semi-routine in nature but recognizes the need for occasional deviation from accepted practice. Provides administrative or technical support at an intermediate level. Incumbents at this level are gaining or have attained full proficiency in their specific area of discipline.

Processing of surveys using Underwriting and Risk Solution tools with an understanding of impacts to business stakeholders (field consultants).

Has the ability to extract, aggregate and synthesize data to perform ad hoc analysis for specific tasks or to enhance their work product and support provided to requestor.

Completing one Capstone project and presentation to senior management on a relevant Risk Solutions topic (possibly involving innovation and the use of technology to help improve Risk Solutions efficiencies).

 

Participating in introductions of new products and enhancement within our Technical Services dept.

 

Opportunity to attend co-surveys with experienced Risk Solutions staff to learn and develop technical and consulting skills.

Works closely with the Operations Support Team, Vendor Managers, Technical Directors, Field Directors, and Staff Consultants in the processing and review of analysis of insured accounts.

Contributing new ideas and perspective to Risk Solutions pipelining and talent recruitment strategies.

 

Following-up with customers to gain commitment to move forward with field consultant recommended services such as water/temperature sensors, IR thermography/vibration testing, drone survey, wearable technology sensors, slipmeter testing and fleet telematics.

 

WHAT YOU NEED TO APPLY:

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher preferred.
  • Occupational Health and Safety, Fire Science, Construction Safety, or Risk Management and Insurance majors preferred.
  • Ability to commit to a full time 10-week internship program.
  • Ability to work in the U.S. without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.
  • 0-2 years of professional working experience.
  • Ability to collaborate with peers to ensure processes are efficient.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Critical thinking/problem solving skills and analytical mindset.
  • Experience with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Desire to work in a collaborative/team-based environment.
  • Excellent time management and multitasking skills.
