The Financial Aid Advisor is responsible for assisting students in navigating the setup of aid to help cover their tuition. This consists of, but is not limited to, guiding students through relevant applications, calculating eligibility, and counseling students on how that eligibility affects their education.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 Provides exceptional customer service for students and staff:

• Keeps 72-hour contact with all unpackaged students;

• Responds to all communication (Voicemail, Email, IM) within 24 business hours;

• Shows promptly for scheduled meetings and calls;

• Remains available and prepared to field incoming communication;

• Communicates to students in a professional manner;

• Fosters an engaged working relationship with institution counterparts

Counsels students, parents, and other interested parties on the availability of financial aid programs:

• Understands what programs are available and the requirements for each;

• Be able to articulate technical topics in a relatable fashion;

• Explores and explains all relative options;

• Pursues understanding over delivery of information

Is a steward of the Student Finance Department;

• Keep sensitive information safe and secure;

• Successfully implement new procedures

• Analyze and calculate awards accurately

-Collect and store appropriate documents

• Other duties as required or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Degree or equivalent, Associate degree preferred

• Prior financial aid experience a plus

• Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, etc.)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Nature of work requires an ability to operate standard business equipment. Siting for long periods of time; up to 8 hours of computer and/or phone work daily.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Majority of work is performed in a general office environment.
