Disaster Resource Coordinator

About this opportunity:

The position matches Disaster Case Management, DCM program donors with resources and/or case management services. Trains and orientates on resources for employees of the DCM program. Recruits, screens, and evaluates available resources that will be used in the DCM program. Participates in regular DCM, long term recovery, and other community meetings. Designated as the point of contact with community partners, including 40+ GA Voluntary Organizations Active in Disasters (VOAD) and local organizations, providing reports, and obtaining commitments to support disaster survivors. Regularly visits site locations operating the case management program to provide technical assistance with DCM database.

Key responsibilities:

• Develops and maintains a resource pool for Disaster Case Workers in DCM program for matching donors with resources and/or case management services.
• Develops and Manages a-resource pool of partnerships to help find clear points of contact for work with external organizations.
• Designated as the point of contact with community partners, including 40+ GA Voluntary Organizations Active in Disasters (VOAD) and local organizations, providing reports, and obtaining commitments to support disaster survivors.
• Works with the DCM Program Director to design a quality assurance plan and tools that will enable program administration to evaluate the effectiveness of the DCM resources.
• Participates in regular DCM, long term recovery, and other community meetings.
• Serves as the point of contact for the DCM database.
• Assists with quality assurance reporting on DCM database.
• Work in coordination with GA VOAD (Voluntary Organization Active in Disaster) to develop and strengthen long term recovery groups.
• Regularly visits site locations operating the case management program to provide technical assistance with DCM database.
• Recruits, screens, and evaluates available resources that will be used in the DCM program.
• Monitors and ensures resources and associated activities are recorded and mapped.
• Captures feedback from external partners and the workforce to share with DCM Program Director and to improve DCM program.
• Creates statistical reports relating to resource management for the Disaster Case Management Program grant.
• Connects directly with the EDS Director regarding national partnerships, including National VOAD. Organizations.
• Collaborates with National VOAD and other external national partners providing supplies and construction services to connect with partner organizations’ disaster construction managers.

• Accountable for expanding the skills and experience of The Salvation Army’s Emergency Disaster Services Community Engagement & Partnership resources for long-term recovery projects.
• Travels & meets with representatives from external organizations should there be a need for partnership development with critical organizations.
• Trains and orientates on resources for employees of the DCM program.
• Works with the DCM Program Director to design a standard orientation and training program for all DCM employees and volunteers and ensures implementation of said program.
• Implements the orientation and training program.
• Works with the EDS Director and DCM Director to ensure there are trained instructors for DCM courses.
• Works with IT to design a standard orientation and training program for Case Management Supervisor- Disaster, and others with access to the system on the Resource section of the Disaster Case Management database; implements the orientation and training program at the Divisional and local levels.
• Provides guidance and support for DCM workforce about process, tools, and troubleshooting.

What we are looking for in you:

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Emergency Management, Business Administration, Business Management, Social Work, Behavioral Science, or a related field, with a Master’s degree in the same strongly preferred; and
• Three years’ experience coordinating resources for disaster services, social services, or similar programs, or
• Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Valid State Driver’s License
• Maintain Insurance Requirements

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language is required with ability to speak a second language highly desirable to eliminate language/communication barriers. Ability to travel throughout the Division when needed to train others on program, procedures, and systems or to conduct presentations. Work is performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like. Work requires travel throughout the division in order to conduct training or presentations where there may be physical discomforts associated with driving a vehicle, traveling by airplane, changes in the weather, and staying overnight in a hotel.
