Position Type: Seasonal full-time (Overnight Residential) 


About this opportunity: 

Here at Camp Hoblitzelle, we're seeking high school sophomores thru seniors with a passion for serving and learning. As one of our Camp Maintenance team members, you'll be an integral part of our dynamic hospitality crew. Your responsibilities include assisting in maintenance and upkeep of the camp’s buildings, grounds, equipment, and other facilities. In addition to ensuring program quality and prioritizing camper safety, you'll embody a positive role model for all. Key responsibilities: 

1. Supervision and Guidance: 

  • Provides guidance and positive role modeling to campers, ensuring their safety and well-being.  
  • Assists in activities for the assigned group of campers in alignment with the camp schedule. 
  • Demonstrates Christian values and principles in all interactions, serving as a positive example for campers.  
  • Demonstrates effective camper behavior management and utilizes appropriate communication and discipline techniques as trained, when required.  
  • Promotes and stimulates camper participation to enhance their overall camp experience.  


2. Maintenance: 

  • Assists in preparing the designated camp facilities for programs and activities; setting tables, preparing equipment and other duties as assigned and directed by Maintenance Supervisor.  
  • Participates in the cleaning of assigned camp areas to include sweeping, mopping, and sanitizing as trained. Ensuring the cleanliness and sanitization of areas as directed including the tables, chairs, etc. 
  • Performs all duties in compliance with camp rules, safety, and health regulations as trained. 
  • Secures all unused equipment and reports any safety hazards to the Maintenance Supervisor. 


3. Community Engagement:  

  • Actively participate in activities contributing to the maintenance of a lively camp learning environment and fostering engagement. 
  • Participates enthusiastically as a team member in all-camp activities, evening programs, and special events. 
  • Embark on a transformative journey as a participant in the Service and Leadership Training (MIRA) program, where you'll play a pivotal role in two key areas: contributing to the essential hospitality support teams by serving in the role of Camp Maintenance Worker and supporting camp counselors in mentoring and leading campers through various activities. As a MIRA team member, you'll experience life in a vibrant Christian community, engage in daily discipleship sessions with peers, and take on diverse roles around the camp. All of this as an opportunity to learn, serve, and grow in faith, under the guidance of the camp leadership team and our dedicated MIRA Supervisor. 
  • Actively promotes and embodies the values of Camp Hoblitzelle's summer camp program, fostering an environment that aligns with the camp's mission and principles.   • Integrates faith into daily activities, contributing to the spiritual growth and development of campers within the Christian camp community.  


4. Program & Activities Assistance: 

  • Assists with camp program activities and other assigned tasks, collaborating closely with other team members.  
  • Always promotes quality of programs and safety of campers in cooperation with camp rules and regulations.  
  • Engages in essential ministry duties, including sharing approved devotional content, participating in prayer sessions with campers, and participating in camp worship times.  


5. Safety and Security: 

  • Ensures the accountability, security, and safety of campers during all camp activities.  
  • Reports all accidents or safety hazards to supervisors promptly and accurately, following camp procedures.  


What we are looking for in you: 


  • Must be at least 15-17 years old.  
  • A heart for others and a mind towards Christ.  
  • Should be self-motivated and teachable.  
  • Prior knowledge and skills training in maintenance, hospitality, Child Education, Children’s Ministry, or similar field is recommended but not required. A willingness to abide by Camp Hoblitzelle’s doctrinal statement and policies.  
  • CPR & First Aid Certified or capable of passing qualification (Cert. opportunities provided during Staff Training week.)  



Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: 

Some physical requirements of the Camp Maintenance position could be endurance including climbing, standing, some bending, stooping, and stretching. Eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to manipulate maintenance equipment and activities are required. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate camper activities/programs and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Have a willingness to live in a camp setting and work irregular hours delivering a program in the facility available. Operate with daily exposure to the sun and heat and varying environmental conditions.

Camp Staff Orientation will be held 06/03/2024 – 06/09/2024 and participation is required. The 2024 Summer Camp Program will be held 06/10/2024 through 07/21/2024.  If you are unable to work the entire season, please let us know on your application.
