Job Summary

Responsible for the overall maintenance of the Centers truck and vehicle fleet. Performs service and repairs that require skilled knowledge of specific components of a vehicle but does not require all around knowledge of truck/vehicle repair.

 

Reads job order and observes and listens to truck or vehicle in operation to determine malfunction and to plan work procedures for repairs. Determines if repairs are needed by a third-party vendor or can be handled internally by the ARC Center; refers major repairs to a qualified shop for repairs. 

 

Changes and maintains all vital fluids for trucks/vehicles including, but not limited to, motor oil, brake fluid, radiator fluid, etc.; inspects trucks/vehicles for various fluid leaks; lubricates moving parts as required. Examines protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on trucks/vehicles, and make adjustments using hand tools.

 

Drives repaired trucks/vehicles to verify conformance to specifications. Inspects trucks/vehicles for proper tire wear. Ensures that all trucks are on a routine maintenance program.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of practices and procedures of basic truck and vehicle maintenance. Ability to read, comprehend and follow written instructions in manuals and other printed material.

 

Education and Experience

High school diploma or G.E.D. preferred and two or more years of directly related training, which may include various certificates indicating successful completion of school, and/or two or more years of experience, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities

 

Licenses and Certifications

Valid State Driver’s License

 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language. Ability to sort and file documents alphabetically and numerically. Ability to operate, work with various truck / vehicle tools. 

 

Moderate physical effort required associated with sitting, walking, standing, lifting, bending, reaching, twisting, pushing, pulling, 75% to 100% of the work time and moderately heavy objects (usually less than 50 lbs.) 25%-70% of work time.

 

Duties are usually performed standing. Standing may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of sitting.

 

Work is generally performed in a warehouse environment or outdoors where there may be physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
