Fitness Assistant I

The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has a job opening for a part-time Fitness Assistant for the Kroc Center, located in Augusta, GA.

Job Summary

Works as an attendant in the fitness/exercise room. Ensure the safe use of the facilities by assisting patrons with the equipment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of windows and Microsoft Office, which includes Microsoft Word and Excel; Knowledge of the principles and practices particular to the department’s administration; Knowledge of general office principles, practices and procedures; Knowledge of the principles and practices of supervision; Ability to ensure compliance with departmental policies and procedures; Knowledge of Fitness equipment and Fitness Facilities.

Education and Experience

High School diploma; And Two (2) years' experience working in a public facility; Certification and experience as s personal trainer preferred; Or any equivalent combination of training and experience with provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Licenses and Certifications 

The following certifications will be acquired as directed by supervisor; Safe From Harm, First Aid and CPR Certification.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions 

Must be in good physical and mental health, capable of meeting the demands of the gymnasium and athletic field programs; Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.; Ability to meet attendance requirements; Work is performed in an environment where there are minimal physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with dust, dirt, and the like. Work is performed in a gymnasium environment where the noise level is usually loud.
