Position Type: Summer Day Camp Program Assistant Director

About this opportunity:

Supervises, plans, schedules, and monitors the planning and delivery of program activities and events.  Assists in managing the overall camp operation at the direction of the Corps Officer. Supervises all programs conducted at the day camp through subordinate specialists for various programs such as aquatic/lakefront activities, nature, arts & crafts, outdoor skills/camping, and audio/visual. Design and deliver program activities that are safe, fun, and appropriate to the camper’s age and abilities.

Key responsibilities:

  • Supervises day-to-day operations.
  • Design program activities.
  • Oversees daily checks of area and equipment.

What we are looking for in you:

  • High School diploma or G.E.D.
  • One year of experience cooking food for large groups.
  • any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.


Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Work requires the ability to lift and carry and/or push/pull light (less than 25 lbs.) materials, supplies, and equipment.  Light mobility: duties are usually performed by a combination of standing, walking, and primarily sitting. 

Work is usually performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like. Work requires driving a vehicle daily with exposure to the outdoors are physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, and heat, or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
